You don't need to pull the motor to replace the TC. You can get by with just pulling the tranny. But still, pulling the tranny out of these cars is not a trivial task. A buddy of mine has an 02 that was throwing the same code. I believe it ended up costing him ~$2200 (parts+labor). He went to a third party Audi tuner. The dealer will prolly charge you about $1k more. Good luck!

I doubt it was the cold.. unless, of course, theres some kind of binding going on putting undue stress on it. I'm gonna have mine apart as soon as it gets outta the teens/low 20's as a high we'll see.. I havent had to buy one yet, but I would think aftermarket would be ok, if not better...

Inlet pipes

I am in the next two or so weeks going tobe pulling my motor. So i need a few items. I cannot for the life of me find any inlet pipes for the k04s. I also need turbo hardware. Anyone know some good local people in the north east that i can deal with? This ad is not displayed to registered and logged-in members. I have a 2000 B5, and to be honest, even with 171,000 on the odo, i would hop in this and drive it anywhere, anytime, and not bat an eye. HOWEVER, your point is well taken that maintenance is KEY. Now,even with maintenance, you can see what i am now in the middle of (Complete engine Pull for turbo rebuild) but that is actually fine as i wanted to do piggies for a while now, and Front Mounted...

well, I think a solid servicing is due to her ladyship leaking oil is an excellent sign of a needy lady, but I dont think its conected to warm starts problem. Flat turbo's are other serious problem as vanity hits ladies strong... maybe you neglected your lady too long...its time to straight things up.... be a man and give her attention needed

find a friend or just take the car to audi service so u can hook it to VAGcom. easiest way to find past... also, transmission can be a question, belts, pumps should be changed promptly, unless your mechanic says that its new. dont trust owner about servicing...everybody lies (house m.d. credit) as far as I know, no strange noises should be there, so take basics and go to vagcom

the milage is a bit high but the price is a fair for the milage. your s4 is going to cost a little bit more expensive than your passat for maintenance but if the PO has taken good care of everything then it wont be to bad. theres a guy around here with 70k and its going for 21,000 just for comparison.

Quick question. I had just replaced a turbo that had blown. when I looked inside my downpipe, I found the precat was covered in oil, and of course the exhaust and turbo had oil in them. So, with the new turbos in. Do I run the risk of damaging them if I dont replace the downpipe or will they be fine. This ad is ...

Sounds like a nice car, 18,900 is alright but I'd at least try to get it down to 18k. They'll probably give you some BS about Kelley Blue Book when they sell it to you, which are all inflated prices. Then when you go to trade something in, they preach NADA books, which are more realistic. So get all you can on the price.
