Engine code, not error code. Engine code is like ACK, AGE, ALG... (you most likely have ACK 2.771 motronic).

I don't know what the fault code was. the technician said it was EGR valve BUT this is a $320.00 repair, I would just as soon take a crack at replacing the PCV if this engine has one. Tch said there is not. can you tell me the three locations to look? 1997 A-6. 2.8 litre, build date November 1996. Thanks in advance - Eric Quist ericbjorn@msn.com

Hi pizzaguy... I have the same problem..... I've replaced the water pipes on the car, most of the rubber ones have burst! and for the past 3 weeks the oil gets way hot (130 +) and am at whits end as to what it could be... It sounds life your thermo is stuck. Get it checked asap. You could do alot of damage to your engine if not. You might have already done some damage by the sounds of it.

The positive battery leads on my 1992 Avant get rather hot when car is started. Have also had battery discharging over several days when car not used. Starter motor works ok. Any electrical speciallists out there?

Try: 1. Turn off the ignition 2. Press and hold day mileage reset button (on speedometer) 3. Turn on the ignition with the reset mileage button pressed - Service Oil should appear on the speedometer 4. release the mileage button 5. pull time set button (left on the speedometer) and keep it pulled till Service Oil disappears - will change to --- 6. Press daily mileage button again ...

Hey there everyone! Before I ask you something, just wanted to introduce my self. I'm Dima(Deema) and I'm the owner of 1993 C4 100. Owned it for almost one year now. Clean Title. Just trying to tune it up but economy is ****ed so that part goes somewhat slower as from what I expected. Never the less I love the car and adding to that I love old school Audi's starting from late 80's to mid 90's....

It sounds like your thermo went a while ago and the list of damage could be long. Where is the fluid leaking from??
