I'd also suggest taking the normal ferry. It goes the same route as the cruises (in fact, it's more flexible) and is a fraction of the cost. There are sleeper cabins and nature talks but it's certainly not as luxurious as a cruise (I'd imagine). Just thought I'd suggest it because cruises can be so expensive.

good food, beer, long hot summers, no Irish politics, bitterly cold winters. You'd just need a fraulein for companionship.

Agreed with most post above. Do remember that Spain/Portugal area that time of year has 'walking around' type weather rather than sitting out weather in Canaries. Again as said, the Gran Canaria has a statistically better chance of good weather that time of year compared to the othet islands. Also you will be booking flights with AL, and these are scheduled departures around 2pm which should mean the young kids are at their best on...

HI sisterlylove,
In a similar situation, going to Orlando next June. We had pretty much decided on Hilton Grand Vacation Club on International Drive. I posted on the Trip Advisor Forums and the overwhelming advice there was that if looking for good nightlife it wasn't a good choice. Orlando is very spread out so we've decided that we're going to push the boat out(it's our honeymoon) and stay ...

To be honest, it's not really central:
http://maps.google.com/maps?rls=com....ed=0CBYQngI wAA
It's a 40 minute walk from Piazza Navona, which I would consider central Rome. It's pretty far east of most of the usual sights.
I quite like "Otello alla Concordia" near the Spanish Steps; a restaurant courtyard in an 18th century palazzo, reputedly Fellini's favourite:

I recently brought my Mum and we stayed in the Caesar Hotel. It was fab, really clean, staff exceptionally friendly, couldn't do enough for us, and a fantastic buffet breakfast included in price. The rooms were very small (typically central London) but they were extremely clean, with tv and internet access.
I would highly recommend the hotel to anyone. We had about 5 min walk to the tube in ...

Have just returned from the most amazing cruise to Alaska - go for it if you can manage to fit it in. Absolutely spectacular, but we were so fortunate with the weather blue skies, incredible cloud formations and sunny, which is really unusual.

Maybe book cheap scheduled flights with AR to Las Palmas, Gran Canaria.
These rentable bungalows are very quiet, central and clean.
Have stayed here myself a few times.

I don't think you would ever regret taking a year out to go travelling. There's always something or someone to stop you or who will think it's a bad idea. Not having a house is an advantage, as it means you can up and leave more easily. I've given up work to go travelling (twice) and never regretting it for a nanosecond. The most popular reaction I get from people (with kids, mortgages etc.) ...

I realise that this is an old thread, but no point duplicating threads.
I would just like to advise anyone who intends on going to Liverpool games that you can buy official membership cards for about 30 sterling each, and each card gives you access to the "members sales" which take place both online and over the phones.
It takes ages to get through on the phones but if you log on online ...
