Good luck with the car. Should be easy enough to get any manuals/advice from Nissan forums (which I assume exist?). Failing that, a Haynes manual (try Halfords or other motor factors) will help.

My mother drove into a fairly deep flood a few days ago in her one year old diesel engine VW. The engine cut out, and a couple of hours later, the car was towed away to a garage. The engine was flooded, the car itself was not flooded though, as the shell is waterproof The engine wont start since, there may be quite a bit of damage to the engine, we're not sure how much damage though A loss assessor is coming soon. We dont know a lot about...

Cars are becoming increasingly complicated, it would appear that there is a grey area in diagnostics, It is becoming a specialised area and I doubt the ability of a lot of mechanics who are doing other mechanical work and not at diagnostics all of the time. Some of the modern cars will be a nightmare when they are older. However in the Cork, Little Island area, there is a guy who seems to know what he is talking about,...

Thanks for the advice Caveat and TS. The estate is private so the management company may be the route to go down. I don't know if I'd feel like I was being a bit sneaky/underhanded by directly approching the management company with a view to getting it towed before giving the neighbour a chance to move it. Maybe I should call them and ask them to have a word with the neighbour in question? By the way I'm not the only neighbour...

As far as tyres on alloy wheels is concerned, they generally are more expensive but not much in the size i expect the almera to have, perhaps 10 or 20 euro per tyre?
Also, have a listen for a whine from the gearbox. Listen carefully through all the gears on a smooth road. A friend of mine worked for nissan and said he used to ...

You would save on the cost per litre, but the engine would use more fuel per mile, compared to petrol, so there is no real cost saving.
AFAIK, there is no saving in road tax. My SAAB runs on E85 and i pay the normal rate of road tax.
Conversions to alternative fuels can be dodgey - remember LPG? A lot of people converted patrol cars to LPG and found the performance and reliability ...

If you had insurance for one day and were stopped by gardai re tax and you explained, common sense should prevail, but you never know.
On saturday in a busy Dublin shopping centre car park, I saw an SUV parked with tax and insurance discs dated 2006 on display. How does this person get away with this?

In general, automatic gearboxes don't like pulling big things like horse boxes or caravans. They tend to wear out sooner.

Hi sam_h
I'm a renault driver and have been for some time (19, coupe and now cabrio) and on all of the models that I have owned, there has been the option to increase/decrease the lights on the dash display. It's normally close to the dial which controls the height of your headlamps.

Personally I'd forget about it & order the badges & engine cover yourself.
You tried to pay them so it's their own fault.

I remember your last posts re the 14k skip you were sold...jeez that was a sour deal if ever there was one.
I`m afraid I dont know anything about the dealer you mention but make sure you run a car check, (cartell etc), on any car you like before you part with any cash!
Good luck with it anyway.

What year Leon are you looking at? There are two totally different models, older and newer.
Value for money you cannot go wrong at all.
Reliability and Maintenance - You basically are driving a VW Golf with a Seat badge on it. Same engine, same gearbox, same chassis. So no real problems there that you wouldnt get with a VW.
