With this weekends sale pricing, the RPL Outlets have a very nice blouson design jacket in black, dark brown or caramel color lambskin, that should be available for just a bit over the OP's pricing limit...with the discounts it should be $350, I think!

Are attaches unfashionable?
Published (2009-11-23 21:11:00)
. . . is the name of the game for an attaché , and unless you are a lead attorney with a platoon of co-counsel, that could be a problem in some cases. From time to time, you are going to have an unpredictable number of files to carry. An attaché is unforgiving. Furthermore, a properly designed, soft-sided briefcase will deflate attractively as well as swell. They don't call them "briefcases" for nothing

I've begun wearing bow ties to work occasionally this year. Unfortunately my boss got the same idea, so there were comparisons, but he doesn't seem to adjust the length properly and they look awkward.
Next year I'd like to add waistcoats. I wear cardigans quite frequently, which are waistcoats of a kind, but I have never felt trim enough to pull off a traditional waistcoat. The larger your ...

I would hardly have the temerity to describe myself as a " sartorial sage," but it sounds as if you have done your homework and have a very clear idea of what you want. I am not sure there are many (if any) of us here who can offer much more in the way of counsel.

I just recently had a lot of work done ($700) as I lost weight and dropped 2-3 suit sizes. You have some big ticket items here. A good tailor would charge quite a bit for taking off and re-attaching sleeves (up to $100) and for turning plain front pants to pleated pants (again up to $100). Next time definitely ask him to itemise the receipt. In the end, having 3 nice fitting suits and 2 ...

Always keep it in a dust cover until out and about.
Don't use it in exceptionally windy weather.
If it's wet, don't furl it until dry.
When opening, don't shake it and always furl it properly afterwards.
Always replace the furrule tip on signs of wearing through.
Don't leave it on the bus!

Press down in the center of the sole with your thumb. If it's soft or
spongy the sole needs to be replaced. If not, look at the outside and
inside borders of the sole where it meets the ground. If the sole is about
the thickness of a dime (going into the welt) at either of those points,
they should be replaced. At the least it looks like the tips need to be
replaced.

I'm not keen on showing any shirt under a jacket button... Yet I tend to go pretty high on my trousers so no shirt really shows when just the top button is fastened.
If there is no cutaway to the coat and you can button the bottom without distorting the way the coat sits, it's not much of an issue, yet depending on the design of the jacket it just might not look right... then again depending ...

However you dress, you'll fit in w/ some of the passengers, it's just a matter of which passengers. I vote for slip-ons polo or OCBD, khakis and blazer/sport coat. (Note: NO fuses sticking out of your athletic shoes if you decide in favor of them.)

Any hydrogen peroxide cleanser will do it.
I use Oxiclean.
You can buy it in any supermarket. You'll find it near the laundry detergent.

IMO, there's nothing wrong with an attache. I carry a briefcase with a clamshell/doctor's bag opening - it has hard sides.

Black leather coats make you look like a wanna-be tough guy. If you've got black hair and Jersey accent and want to give people the sense that you might be packing, they're fine. Same if you're actually riding a motocycle. Otherwise, they're just ill-advised.

It saddens me, but at least he wore the robe and bothered with morning dress I guess. I'm just holding out for the next speaker personally. Failing that I'll do my best to get elected (both to the commons and the position of speaker) and report back on my attempt to find a tailor able to make all the accoutrements of the office.
...This might take a while.

Amusing, and with at least a kernel of truth.
I think that Hilditch & Key are the equal of T&A - they certainly do more pattern matching and other little tailoring tricks.
Most of them also have subtly distinct collar shapes. Without seeing the label, an experienced customer could easily tell a H&K, T&A, and H&H apart based solely on the collar leaves.
