Vulcan Bombers fly south. First Strike: Mission Black Buck. Last “V” Bomber designed to drop Nukes on Eastern Europe, with 21 1000lb bombs, for the runway at Stanley. Over 4000 miles, Vulcan and Victor tankers make the RAF longest-range air attack. I think in 1982 a recorded for any air attack. “Attack with aggression, but always have a plan of retreat”

What does this mean? (not literally of course...) France is negotiating to sell a high-tech warship to Russia, which would mark the first time that a NATO nation — and a founding member at that — sold arms to the country since the fall of the Soviet Union, which the treaty organization was created to oppose. The Russians are anxiously looking to buy one of France’s Mistral class helicopter carriers, a rapid-deployment attack ship that some...

"The decline of British aviation in the 1960s did not go without some protest. 1968 was the 50th anniversary of the founding of the RAF, and no effort was made to perform an aerial display appropriate to the occasion. An RAF flight lieutenant named Alan Pollock was unhappy with this state of affairs and on 5 April took the matter into his own hands, flying his Hunter on a jaunt over London and then under the top span of the Tower...

The 2nd of April 1982. A group of islands in the south Atlantic, to some the Falklands to others the Malvinas, was invaded by Argentina. Was this a political stunt by the Argentine Junta, to bully Britain into conceding sovereignty over the Falklands, a gamble that Britton would go to the UN for peace talks. Did Argentina think with Britain 8000 miles away that no military response could be ...

The French still practiced 'Decimation' in WW1. For example the 10e Compagnie of 8 Battalion of the Régiment Mixte de Tirailleurs Algériens was decimated in December 1914. The French on a number of occasions in ww1 executed soldiers at random from a unit that didn't perform satisfactorily - one of the reasons for the mutinies in 1917. The 1958 film 'Paths of Glory' was based on one such ...

I mean, I had so many "WTF?" moments that I came to the conclusion that I don't yet fully understand this battle. I have no doubt that I will, at some point. In the mean time.... Here is my question- which battle(s) for you create the most "WTF?" moments? Or, ...

Muslims must understand that we are prepared to do anything to remain in control of the seas, the land, well everything. Muslims will never love us because we are...

A lot of the fighting between Italy and Austria during World War I took place up in the Dolomites, and when some of the soldiers died they fell in icy crevasses; their bodies were turning up until at least the 1970s. http://fortinorditalia.altervista.org/index.html There is also Saipan; I went over there on a port of call after doing a NGFS exercise.
