Yeah I was thinking this as well. If it's a screen top like those in an exo terra, get some clear packing tape and to cover over a majority of the mesh. Obviously don't totally cover it over as avics like a bit of ventilation, but a large proportion will help you reduce the evaporation rate. That should help keep the humidity nice and high QUOTE=Robineng;1544728]Sounds like you have way too much ventilation if the terrarium starts...

Mark dont take this the wrong way, are you absolutely sure is fungus? Sometimes you know, they get a mixture of crap and susbtrate and hairs...And looks weird but its nothing, you know? I wish I could see it... I dont know what to tell you, if you think it is, You might wanna just put the spider in a small container, and totally wash thoroughly the whole tank and re do it, besides taking care of the T...

Wow.. I've never heard of someone going to those extremes. I don't do half of that, and my Avics are fine. Like cody said.. overflow the water dish and let the substrate get soaked. Then just let it dry out a bit before the next overflow. Mist a few times a week, or daily if you really want (just be careful about how MUCH water you're sprayin). It really isn't all THAT complicated.

They are an awesome species!! They are hardy and don't need any special attention, but they do like their water bowls. Mine drinks regularly. They are colorful, entertaining, and are great to display. Mine NEVER hides. Acanthoscurria is absolutely my favorite genus. They do have an incredible feeding response, to the point that they WILL bite you if put your hand near one in the ...

If anything I would expect it to be more lethargic and perhaps grumpy prior to a moult. Of course slings are far less likely to exhibit this than adults.

Ideally you should get the crix out as soon as possible as a whole load of baby crix hopping around will stress your T.... Maybe you could gently get the babies out n grow them in another container? Free micro's for any slings you may have or grow them on to feed to larger T's.

I disagree. Tarantulas position themselves within their environment to maintain their conditions. Desert species are not out in the sun and heat they're under the ground in a 65 degree burrow. The ideal conditions for almost all of them is 70 to 75 degrees. Not the extremes of their natural habitat. I've raised a lot of slings in 65 to 75 degree temps. No trouble.

Question about Shipping Hey I haven't ever ordered anything online before and I ordered a couple slings from swifts. OK, first things first. Standard English grammar rules of capitalization dictate that words are only capitalized at the start of sentences, or when they are proper nouns. Secondly--yes, you want peat and coco fiber that are pesticide and fertilizer free. Or at least pesticide free, and I imagine fertilizer would stink and might be harmful. Thirdly, Eco Earth is a specific brand name ...

We haven't bred anything yet, however I have read that a female will ignore a male if the most recent attempt took. Did you put him back in the same day? I believe (I could be wrong) that it's better to wait a couple of days before pairing them again, she could have just had enough and not wanted anymore. If I were you I would wait 2-3 days and try again. Just my two cents based on things I have ...

Just think about in the wild. As long as there are no mites or any infestation (obviously)Theres no problem with that, except that the new T of the enclosure is going to feel the webs and the territory of the one that was there before, and that could stress her for days.
