Does sound like eggs, but I'm no expert with stars.
Any idea why you're showing detectable levels of ammonia and
nitrites? For a tank that's been up at least 6 months, I wouldn't expect any detectable levels for either of those.

Tangs have ick Hello!
I am over 2 months into my SW aquarium and I am hooked!!
Started out with damsels to cycle it and after 8 wks purchased
yellow and blue tang and of course blue tang has ich already.
I am medicating with kick ich and another antibiotic at this time.
Hope I can
keep it alive. Water is fine, temp is fine. Water is showing
slight brown tint today - what...

It could be ich, or it could just be sand. Ich will look like
specks of salt.

my
hippo has been doing that too, scratching like a cat against an old
piece of coral.
