Sounds to me if you're getting confused about it you might as well buy a torque wrench. If you don't do it properly, you can really fuck it up. Oh, get a bloody Haynes Manual as well! It's one of those tools that once you've got it, you will be able to keep it for years and carry on using it.

is that your spark plug? is that a shadow or a bit of piston/ring? youve probably had a slight seizure and that why it stoped a few times and you kept riding it and now its fooked, but could be wrong

if u dident want to be so precisie dan , you could get them cut and they just give you a key that doesnt look like the original

As long as you have a good Chain and sprockets and wheel bearings id say 15-20% If a Rs50 had 6-7hp at the crank it would probly have 0hp at the wheel :P
