Sanyo iFrame vs 1080p
Published (2009-11-25 16:12:00)
Fair enough, however I'd also expect it to take up considerably less space on the camera than 1080p and produce a comparative quality to 1080p exported to 540p, neither of which it does. If you look back at other threads in this forum you'll see I'm one of a very few that saw an advantage in iFrame, but that was based on the expectations I mention hereinbefore. Otherwise I'll sacrifice the extra time for quality every...

I no color banding on either. " The quality of the iMovie video is far inferior to the AVCHD video" Of course, you are looking at a Preview. Export, burn to BD, play it on a BD, and then watch it. You should have bought a camera that does NOT shoot AVCHD -- then you would have what you want. Either Motion-JPEG or H.264. Hmm -- does the Pana shoot M-JPEG? I bought the "planetarium" clip from an online service to which I subscribe. The guy who shot it receives a mechanical payment for my use of his video. Unlike most people on the 'net, I don't steal stuff. Whatever. Let's just mark this issue closed. I still don't have a clear understanding of why iMovie went crazy when I followed the instructions to make a simple iMovie green screen effect. Apple doesn't...

HF20 - Deinterlacing Issue
Published (2009-11-25 00:56:00)
Sorry if it seems I am going in circles, but the issue is that Canon told me (prior to the purchase) that the Camera was fully compatible with iMovie. However, according to your tests the 50i content ends up be tagged as progressive and 25p content ends up being tagged as interlaced. The same thing seems to occur when I import using VoltaicHD - at least in relation to 50i. Given that this doesn't occur with the NTSC version of the...

I tried all you suggested, but no joy. The HF10 has both an internal 16GB memory and removable flash card. Even reading the flash card in a card reader doesn't work. iMovie doesn't recognize the file format (.mts). The whole reason I upgraded to iLife '09 was for iMovie's ability to read AVCHD files. Before I bought it I checked to make sure the Canon HF10 was compatible. In previous rev's of iMovie they say that...

I would check other audio tracks, such as the main audio track that accompanies the video. If someone has used the ducking feature, it overrides other adjustments.

firewire cameras are not listed individually in the Apple compatibility document because 99.9% of them work. Yours should work.
Tell us more about your camera and how you are connecting it. For one thing, make sure the camera is plugged in to wall power. Battery power will not work for import from a firewire camera....

Hi
Don't try more tapes. Most probably harmful to them.
Your Camera most likely needs to go to a Service shop to be cleande and eventually
put in order.
This sounds really as a mechanical problem that needs professional care.

Make your png file in the dimensions of the project (e.g. 640x480, for example.)
Then drag the png file and drop it on your clip. When the pop up menu comes up, choose picture in picture. You can change the size of the PIP if needed. If the pop up menu does not give you this option, go to iMovie Preferences and turn on Advanced Tools.

You will get best results if you deinterlace before importing into iMovie.
You can use a free tool like MPEG Streamclip or JES Deinterlacer to do the job.

Any tips?
Use the precision editor.
Double click the space between two clips in your project and the precision editor will open.
Now click the little button with the sound wave to display audio. You can now drag to extend the audio of the incoming clip to start under the outgoing clip.
That's the brief answer.
Post back if you need more.

Notice that the Exception was a BREAKPOINT (SIGTRAP). Signal trapping is done by the debugger built into the System - using the hardware to detect when a certain operation or condition comes up. So apparently - the 8.0.5 update ...

Hi
Just thinking - to DVD disk. Then iMovie'08 & 09 are not the right tool if You evaluate quality.
iMovie up to HD 6 and FinalCut Express or Pro - gives a much better result any Camera.
I love miniDV tape - due to easy storage - put tape in a box.
• Hard disk, memory card, miniDVD etc. needs a lot of thinking and time to
handle and store.
