First, buy a book on Mac OS X, then look at whether your question is complete enough to even give an answer without people having to write a book. You don't mention if you use Boot Camp along with Fusion, or read the Fusion FAQ and tutorial (they have that, you know, on their site). Most programs have uninstallers; help menu and help files, pdf guides, just for starters. Do what you did to install Windows, only in reverse. And...

I prefer Parallels. I have 8 VMs that I use on a regular basis. It has never crashed on me. The biggest difficulty I've ever had in Parallels is that I had to manually install Parallels Tools on my unsupported VectorLinux distribution. I also own VMWare. It had some stability problems early on but those seem to have been cleared up. I will admit that one of the primary reasons I prefer Parallels has been a barrage of outrageously...

No, they sent me the full retail version (no "upgrade" on the box). From photos online and at Microsoft's site, the upgrade box has the word "Upgrade" at the top of the box. According to some online posts, the discs are no different. The only difference then would be the product key. The full retail version would not ask for you to enter a product key from your prior version of Windows. I believe the upgrade version...

Okay, I solved the problem. Turns out I was installing the wrong driver from the Realtek website. The correct driver for VB in my installation is for the AC'97 audio controller. It is located at: http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsCheck.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=23&PFid=23&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false#AC I have sound now! Do you need 64-bit? probably not. I don't know what a 4,1 MacBook is, as far as model/yr. I do know that booting from 64-bit Windows depends on having an EFI64 (Unified EFI 2.x) to be successful without alteration.
Windows 7 comes with 32/64-bit media. And System Builder Home Premium is $99 (but that comes in only 32 or 64-bit, not both)....

Your purchases are stored on the computer and a record of them is kept in the iTunes Store account; the record can't be used to redownload them. Either restore them from a backup, or click here and contact customer support, or purchase them again, or if they're on an iPod or iPhone, connect it and use the Transfer Purchases command in iTunes.

Don't get Windows 7, at least, not yet. I've had to play with it on my wife's and my father-in-law's new computers, and not only am I frustrated, I'm less than impressed. I installed Safari on both computers to keep them from locking up, and Bonjour for Windows isn't playing well at all with Windows 7. My wife can't print from her ...

Not sure... so have you tried the Kaspersky forum? or won't they touch it because it is more like OEM product and they expect Parallels to provide full support?
The problem sounds like Vista primarily and maybe Windows Vista is confused by Paralllels.

Let her run Windows for now on Mac, or get a new PC.
As for whether it works well in a VM, why not load it up in Sun's VirtualBox (free) and test it out on your system.

1. Is it best to use Bootcamp to install Windows 7?
At this point, I don't know if Windows 7 and Bootcamp are a good fit. Bootcamp may not have all the drivers that Windows 7 needs. Parallels and VMWare both claim full Windows 7 support.
2. If I've already installed Windows 7 via Bootcamp can I install from the same Windows 7 disc with Parallels/VMware?...

Hi Bob,
Parallels uses MacFuse for their Shared Folder and also for Virtual Windows discs.
Removing it is not advisable.

Mac OS X includes the capability to read NTFS drives; write access requires a driver such as this one .
The drive itself needs to be put in the NTFS format from a PC; if none are involved, just use Mac OS Extended (Journaled) instead.

compliance checking ... In Windows Vista, Setup did the compliance check (to see whether you have a valid prior version of Windows and thus qualify for the Upgrade version) after the phase where you can format the disk.
This means you could actually format the disk, thus destroying your previous install, and then fail the compliance check. Microsoft fixed this in Windows 7. ...

Graphic/processor intensive apps such as Autocad and 3DSMax will always run worse in a virtualized environment. Use Boot Camp for those apps.
