What happened with my idea to have a nice clean new install of OS X on 30GB partition on either internal or EXTERNAL 1TB drives? That, to me, is the way out. In addition to the battery, while you have it open make sure to check for dust buildup and vacuum out the intake and exhaust vents. It might be overheating. A collection of clinking, clanking, clattering caliginous junk.   Mac OS 8.6 or Earlier   PDP11

I also take it that theres no 64 bit OS 10.5 kernel for the PPC? No. And it's not necessary. Even Snow Leopard boots with a 32-bit kernel by default.
