Have you tried a permissions repair after the OS update, using Disk Utility from your "Utilities" folder, tia.r. As I understand it the game should run under SL 10.6.2 with your particular GPU, though there have been problems with some earlier GeForce GPUs. If a "permissions repair" using Disk Utility doesn't fix it, then I'd be inclined to try downloading the "Combo" version of the SL 10.6.2 update...

Congrats! If this is a "new" MBP, you will likely be better served by posting in the newer forum area for MacBook Pros introduced since late 2008. There are differences that, should you post a question here, could get you an inappropriate answer for your particular hardware. Got it. I'd like to reiterate that I got that great advice to "just drag and drop" from a Genius at an Apple Store. It was pretty clear to me that that would not work in any way when he told that to me. I think that they really ought to check with customers when performing this logic board swap to find out if there are TM backups out there to contend with, and do some proactive legwork to help them deal with it. If you boot into safe mode and don't run any CS3 apps does the machine panic? And what if you boot normally without running any of the Adobe apps?
Have you examined the console log and crashreporter log around the same time of the panic to see what clues may be provided as to the cause of the panic? Basically there's nothing useful in the panic log to identify the cause.

I am getting no chime on startup.
Disconnect all peripherals and the power cord, remove the battery. Take a deep breath & count to 60 slowly. Reconnect the power cord and battery and see if the machine starts normally. If it does, you can start connecting all peripherals one at a time.
If this tactic does not work, disconnect the power cord and hold down the Power button for...

If you have the model with the NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics chip, you might have this problem:
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2377
If so, Apple should fix it at no cost to you. You can take it to an Apple Store or maybe to an AASP to confirm the diagnosis.
Good luck!...

I suspect you only re-installed the OS from the first of the two "restore" discs that came with your computer, Jack.
Try installing the "additional programs" from the second disc as well.

It sounds like you may have some sort of self replicating log or something that is slowly using up your space. One place to start is to use one of these utilities to see what is taking up the space:

If the drive is formatted as NTFS, the Mac OS cannot write to it. It must be formatted in a file system the Mac OS can write to, such as FAT32. FAT32 is read/writable by both Windows and Mac.

You might want to check in System Preferences>Keyboard>Keyboard Shortcuts and see if any of the keyboard shortcuts listed would explain what is happening.
Also, it's possible you might be touching the trackpad when typing and causing problems. You could check the trackpad in System preferences and be sure the box that says "Ignore accidental trackpad input" is checked.
