I have to agree, the most likely scenario is a bad file. As I mentioned earlier, I don't think there are any Mac utilities for attempting a repair. "Repair" is somewhat vague. If a file is bad it is missing data, and likely this data is critical to the running of the file. Hahah, that is BDAqua's answer for everything. Applejack is great, but you should know that typing AUTO will remove ALL cache files. Some of the odd issues from an upgrade to Tiger, from a previous Panther system can really do strange things.
