I would check Garrison Sans but - there's no such font shown anywhere on this Mac Pro. I checked the Minion family - all 10 fonts passed w/o any problems found. Re: Garrison, I took it from the Console report that the website I'd jumped to (following a science story in the news) had called for that font and Safari couldn't find it (now we know, for good reason). The unindented item is the physical drive entry. The indented item is the logical volume or volumes on the drive. When only one volume is listed repairing the volume may be done by selecting either entry. However, if you have more than one volume on the drive, then you should select the specific volume you need to repair. To repair permissions you must select the volume regardless of how many volumes are on the drive. Mac Pro 2.66 Ghz; MBP...

The code appears to indicate the hard disk drive, too. If the computer is covered under AppleCare, you may have an avenue there to have it replaced. You may wish to see if the computer itself could be started up in FireWire Target Disk Mode and then, if so, access the files on there from a second computer to get a copy of your work... Before taking the unit in for repair. If the suspect unit cannot be booted into FireWire Target Disk Mode (or...

there is no spyware or adware in os x. there are also no viruses and very few (AFAIK,less than 10) trojans. those you have to download and install by hand. if your father's hotmail account was hacked it likely happened not because of anything infiltrating the mac. None of the above programs are "emulators." When it comes to Intel Macs such as a MacBook Pro, what you have is virtualization programs. 10.5 comes with a Boot Camp installer that lets you dual boot into Windows and Mac OS X. 10.6 has the same. The other programs above work without having to reboot your Mac, and with more versions of Linux and Windows. See my FAQ* on the links to the above programs:...

And in general - never, ever, trash anything from the "System" folder (it contains another Library folder). If you move anything in this folder your computer might not boot - you can't even remove a file then put it back in - the operating system knows and will now consider it a "dead" item - it's like it's been "unblessed" Perhaps because it is such an innocuous file, or I was lucky, I...

Actually just fixed this myself. Had installed rapport from NatWest Bank, and this seems to be the issue, should have thought through this more carefully.
Anyway solution was to disable rapport in the systems panel. Now to complain to Royal Bank Of Scotland.

A clarification: actually the white box has a straight arrow, pointing down, and not a hooked arrow. Also, it seems that when I open one window, it "trades" with the one already open, which then goes down to that hidden place, below the dock. Then when I want to open that one again, the only way I can do that is to click on the application icon. Using the expose no longer works....

Hi JhnD: The DVDs that ship with the computers are machine specific. One will not work for the other computer. You could certainly purchase the retail version of Snow Leopard (10.6) to install on the iMac. It is quite inexpensive.
Hope this helps

1. Where did you get a copy of DiskWarrior?
2. The disk you made is not bootable.
3. When you booted from your OS installer disk did you run Repair Disk?
4. A bootable disk has to have an OS on it that'll boot your Mac.

Just discovered idiotically simple answer to my own question: From "View Options," Set Root Folder to "Always open in List View," then set Home Folder to Column view.
Anyone know how to get the Home Folder to open directly in the Finder without having to select option "Open in Finder" first?

First, you cannot install 10.6 on either an eMac or any PPC Mac. 10.6 is Intel only and a G4 is not an Intel machine. So either you don't have a G4 or you are not using 10.6. It would be useful to get this information in your forum configuration profile correct.
It makes no difference where you update the firmware, but I would be careful to verify that the drive will continue to ...

The first (only?) thing to check is what the log files have to say about this.
Open /Applications/Utilities/Console.app and watch the system log as you connect an external drive or insert a CD/DVD. Chances are it will be enlightening.

If simply dragging the app to the Trash and empty
does not remove all the files (there often are ones
that go hidden, left in the system) you can get &
use an uninstall utility such as this free one:
AppCleaner - uninstalls apps properly
http://freemacsoft.net/AppCleaner/
There are others that work, most are shareware.
Some applications include an Uninstaller, so in
that ...

It's there in case you want to retrieve anything from it.
