I might want to take that star back. QuicKeys turns out to be an OS X - only utility. Looks like Res Edit is the way to go. Dual 1.25 GHz PM/G4 OS 9 & 10

There are older versions of Quickeys that run under OS 9. I have run version 2 and version 5 under OS 9, and use it to re-map a few annoying keys in an OS 9 Application I still run in Classic. Don - Thanks for detailed effort. I did it precisely as you stated. Had forgotten those commands of yore. But - it didn't work. I suspect the olde iMac took a static elec. hit that ZAPPED the board. Sold the client an eMac and transferred his OS 9 to it. Hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving - and thanks again. If you do not have internet at all, I hope you get it soon. =] iMacs, even old ones, can connect to internet in at least two ways (not sure about AirPort) I also recommend you get a Netgear Router because they are a very easy installation. They install by themselves!! You can get USB mass storage devices. Make sure they are a name brand. Sometimes the Chinese merchants sell fake ones lol. OS 9 will mount all the USB mass storage devices. They...

I had similar issues moving stuff around. So I bought an external drive that was compatible with both machines. What worked best for me was the addition of a FireWire card to my beige G3 tower. Then I just plugged the FireWire drive into the 3 FireWire port, copied the file to the drive, moved the drive to the Pismo Powerbook and copied the file to the Pismo. Gary G4 Mac OS 9.2.x

I believe that version 7 was the highest version for OS 9. You can download here. http://www.oldapps.com/flash_player.php
However, version 7 won't work on many (most?) sites using Flash. When booted in Tiger recently, I was using version 9 but it wouldn't work. Had to upgrade to version 10.
Cheers, Tom...

Welcome to Apple Discussions!
A few USB CD burners are Mac OS 9 compatible. Contact firewire AT lacie.com to find out if one of their drives is still Mac OS 9 compatible.
The other option is to find a flash drive. The iMacs from that time period didn't have Firewire, and the USB they had was 1.1, which is very slow in data transfer. Those iMacs can be connected to dialup ...

Are you using the OS 9 Finder to make the copy?
If OS 9 Finder continues to give you trouble, make the connection from the Mac OS X end and copy the file using Mac OS X Finder.
You will need to allow OS 9 to accept connections using TCP/IP. I believe the checkbox is in "Users and Groups". If not, look in "Sharing"....

Hi, Keith -
Is there a key command that would allow me to boot into OS 9 - an equivalent to holding down the X key to turn on the computer to boot into OS X?
No.
If not, wouldn't there be a way to write a script for that - using Terminal, Applescript, Automator or ?
No. Since the instruction to select a boot OS would need to be entered before any OS has been loaded, ...

Hi, nOmada -
I think you'll find that USBOverdrive will more than meet your needs. I use it with my MS Intellimouse Explorer mouses in OS 9; it can handle at least five buttons plus scroll wheel, and allows setting different funtions for the buttons in different programs, switching sets on the fly as you switch from program to program. You can get the OS 9 version from ...
