Ah, I understand now. It may be some small consolation to know that nobody was offering video-only MDP-to-HDMI adapters for several months after the MacBooks and MBPs with mini-Displayports were introduced last fall, and it wasn't until midsummer that Kanex came out with two MDP-HDMI adapter models that consolidate the audio and video signals into one HDMI cable. So if you bought your MDP-DVI adapter before then, you didn't have...

Hey iVmichael, I finally manage to find shockwave in the installed plug-ins files. In my previous post, what I meant was that the flash player is found is the utility disk but not now. However my problem is solved. It is actually the security issue. I went in the security(safari) and enable plug-ins. I'm so glad that I'm able to watch video now. Thanks a lot for your help. (: Cheers. MacBook Pro 13;   Mac OS X (10.6)...

When you have them hooked up you run System Preferences/Displays and set each to the Resolution you require, they don't need to be the same. In Clamshell Mode you set the Resolution (on the external) to the maximum it can manage, even if that's more than the MacBook Pro itself. 2.4 Ghz 15" 4GB RAM 500GB/7200 Unibody MBP, 60GB iPod, iPhone 3G 16GB   Mac OS X (10.6.2)   Assorted other Mac's and...

So the adapter being used is a Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter I believe, and not a Mini DVI to DVI Adapter, correct? In that case, maybe it's the adapter that is bad since you can't also be using the DisplayPort adapter with the 2007 MacBook, so that could be the difference.

Welcome to Apple Discussions! Since you are under warranty, you should contact Apple immediately and report this problem to them. It sounds like a hardware malfunction of some sort with the display, and Apple will need to determine if you should get a repair or a replacement. Good luck! There is a very light and nice app called Right Zoom that makes the green button of each window on your Mac behave exactly the way you want it. And it's freeware! Download, unzip, put in the Applications folder and add it to your login elements list to make it load any time your mac turns on. You can find it here: http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/30591

This is because your TV is 16:9 and your MacBook Display is 16:10 - that means you will have bars on one of the displays. What you could is set the resolution to 1280 x 720 - this should vie you full screen on the HDTV, but you will have small bars on the MacBook. 13" MacBook Pro/4GB RAM/320GB HD - 500MHz...

I just got my new MBP yesterday and was pretty upset when I realized my MiniDisplayPort->DVI > DVI>Composite adapter plan wouldn't work. I'm also a VJ and use MBP's to perform live, an S-video/composite output is essential. I was already miffed when Apple got rid of the S-video out moving to the original MBP's. However, I've done a lot of reading on different forums over the last...

Leonardo: Your 13.3" MBP doesn't have a mini-DVI port, so your friend's mini-DVI to DVI adapter is of no use to you. You need a mini-Displayport to DVI adapter if you really want to use your DVI-to-VGA cable. But for the simplest, cleanest conection possible and the lowest risk of trouble, you should buy a mini-Displayport-to-VGA cable like one of these: http://www.monoprice.com/...

I'm assuming you're using Safari, on the top menu go to Help/Installed Plug Ins and look for: Shockwave Flash 10.0 r32 — from file “Flash Player.plugin”. Your best bet may be to call Apple and ask to speak to Apple Customer Relations and see if they can help you with this. It would be helpful to your case to get the name of the Mac genius that witnessed the problem, as he would be able to verify that it was there, even if the others Apple guys didn't see it. It would also be advisable to get a case number if you have not already done so...
