Yet another Safari Flash problem?
Published (2009-11-25 23:27:00)
HI, Try downloading and installing the the 10.6.2 combo update. It includes fixes that might help. It's ok to install the 10.6.2 combo even though you are already running 10.6.2 http://support.apple.com/kb/DL959 As with any software installation, repair disk permissions. Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair...

Unwanted downloads

I was just trying to reassure WZZZ that, IMO, Tiger is still supported in terms of security updates, and that not all security updates apply to all versions of OS X. As for the unwanted downloads, I confess to my ignorance as I had never heard of them before - and still don't understand how they occur. But if you had 'em, you had 'em! There's nothing specious about it. Mac OS X 10.4 is unaffected by these problems, and therefore no security update is needed to address a problem that doesn't exist. I'm sorry if you don't like that fact, but it doesn't change the truth. Mac mini G4, 1.42 Ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.11)

Hi Cary, welcome to the forums. Just as a comfort for you, I updated my father's (he's over 80 now) emac G4 from an earlier version of Tiger to 10.4.11 and at first he didn't notice and kept writing his book and getting and sending his emails. Then one day he asked if I did something to his computer because it was running better!! There really was nothing much changed at all, mainly 'under the hood' and made it more...

Hi Ernie, At no time did I reference Security Update 2009-006? I think it was a misunderstanding from when you said, "The latest Security Update released (005) was for both Tiger and Leopard." (italics mine) BTW do you see anything in the description of the update that might have been related to the issue we are discussing, the downloads? I think you suggested earlier that this update might have cleared up this issue. I don't...

Safari 4.0.4 update
Published (2009-11-18 16:44:00)
Thank you so much! That did the trick - Within the webkit.framework there was no Resources folder, so I actually had to create a folder called "Resources" on my desktop and copy the info.plist file into it, then copy that folder into the webkit.framework folder. But the installer for Safari 4.0.4 has successfully completed and I am ready to restart and get back into iTunes. Thanks again! Ben Mac Mini G4   Mac OS X (10.5.8)...

Greetings, Have you considered the possibility that the plug-in isn't compatible with Mac OS X 10.5.8, or even Safari 4.0.3? ABC doesn't specifically say which browser versions it's not compatible with, and that's the most likely cause for not working. Mac mini G4, 1.42 Ghz...

WZZZ -- I read tons of those posts . . . It was the weirdest thing! To this day, I still think it was a rogue 3rd-party app or plug-in. Just ran permission verify after latest update and had hundreds of errors strictly in Safari. No, you didn't have hundreds of errors. The fact that your permissions weren't what they were "supposed" to be is not a problem. Permissions will naturally change over time as you use your computer; "repairng" them merely sets them back to what they should be if you had never used the ...
