No need to call me sir, Dugy01. We're a user-to-user troubleshooting forum. See: What is Apple Discussions and how can it help me? " Error 46 Could not load or find the Quicktime Active X control " Good gracious. I haven't seen an error 46 reported for quite a while. They seemed to be much more common with earlier versions of QuickTime 7 than now. First we'd better make sure you have the precise details of your Pro...

There is an article on the Microsoft support site that describes how to get the script host processors registered: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/949140 For Windows Vista, and Windows 7 you probably need to disable the UAC (or it may just "go through the motions" without actually getting the processors registered. If you already have a QuickTime 7 pro key , an upgrade to the current version of QuickTime (QuickTime 7.6.5) will not require you to buy a new key.
What version of QuickTime do you currently have installed? To check, in QuickTime go "Help > About QuickTime Player ...". (For example, it says in there in my QuickTime Player that I've got a QuickTime 7.6.5.)...

a error msg saying "appdata couldn't be found".
That's a bit exotic, Houston. Taken at face value, it's suggesting that QuickTime and iTunes aren't able to create any preference files in your user account. (The AppData folder stores preference files for a whole bunch of programs for your user account.)
Let's try and have a look at your AppData folder. It's a hidden file, so ...

Can you check something else for me please, Name?
Head into your control panels and try to launch the QuickTime control panel. What error message do you get then? (*Precise* text please ... the information in the error message about where QuickTime thinks the QuickTime.cpl file lives can be of some help with diagnosing the nature of your problem.)...

Rather than uninstalling iTunes, try reinstalling QuickTime by downloading and installing the "standalone" QuickTime installer (get the one that doesn't mention iTunes):

Thanks for the Problem report, Larry ... Usually that's of a lot of help under these circumstances. Unfortunately, in this case, it's being a bit cryptic too.
So let's first try swapping out your QuickTime, and seeing if that helps with matters.

Hi Roger!
You've been supplying excellent information. Thank you.
I'd like to doublecheck something:
Similar thing happens if I go into preferences and try to change anything here,
Try heading into the preferences via the QuickTime control panel (in amongst your other XP control panels). What's the precise text of the error message you get then?

Hmmm. I think we'll still work the Apple Application Support angle for at least another post, Kodika. Doublechecking something related to the following note:
I was unable to find the "Common Files" folder in Vista you referred to.
Do you have a 64-bit version of Vista? (Sorry, I've been assuming you've got a 32-bit version, and was giving instructions based on that assumption. ...

You can extract the sound and paste it back from a new location in the video track.
You use the Add to selection and scale command in the Edit menu.
Before pasting the sound, you first select the same amount of time of the video.
You can also use a Movie editor.

If I read this review correctly the camera makes two types of files. The .mov version can be opened using Final Cut (Mac only) without the need of an "intermediate" codec conversion. This saves tons of time.
The "other" format is the long GOP MPEG-2 (sort of standard) that can be ...

What are you seeing rather than video in both applications, claire? A green screen or something different?
Are you getting video with any video files at the moment? Or is it just audio for anything?
