I've never used FCP and don't know about its features or functions. If it needs "uncompressed" audio formats then I guess one would have to up-sample the lowly .mp3 format. I would search for an "original" version, however. iMac 3.06, (Mac mini and G3 given to the grandkids) Mac OS X (10.6.2)

There's no need to you to be rude in response to a polite suggestion. My aim is to get you to the forum where you'll be more likely to get a quick and applicable answer when you have a question. Most Mac users will have no experience with QuickTime for Windows. If that's not important to you, fine, whatever. You would be better off doing this with iMovie. As you will have to digitise the footage you will need an analogue to digital converter like, for example, a Canopus. Once in Imovie you can edit and burn to a standard DVD. I have done this many times with old VHS tapes. You connect the player to the Canopus using standard RCA cables, and the Canopus to the Mac by firewire. 20" 2.1GHz iSight iMac G5, 250GB HD, 1.5GB RAM Mac...

Ah, I see as I have QT Pro 7.6.4 and I did see a msg before I exported the swf that it is only available in Flash 5 or lower. So export to QT and find an OSX app to animate? I just tried to export the mov file as image sequences and you are right as QT exports frame by frame sequences which are of no use. I got posts up in the Adobe forum as well. thx for the info rdeff Mac Book Pro 2.33 2GB memory / Powerbook 15"- 1.5 Mac...

Hi,
I'm afraid that it's a problem with the Flip4Mac plugin, not Quicktime itself because it doesn't natively support Windows Media content.
The new Flip4Mac is a just released Beta, and I'm sure it will improve in time.

OK, playing movies one after another using QTNEXT works in 10.6 if the next movie is called directly, but using the URL function of QTNEXT to call a url was giving the error in some browsers (QT logo with question mark).

The Cinepak video codec is old (1991) and not many video editors would use it. It's part of QuickTime because of its legacy value.
AVI is not a "standard" and was discontinued by its creators (Microsoft) long ago in favor of the more modern Windows Media player formats. Exports to WMP formats require additional third party software....

If you want to use text or an image as a link to open in the Quicktime Player try this:
http://video.conncoll.edu/movielauncher6.html
If you copy the code...the code only works from a server and not locally.
If you want the video to start when open or got to full screen. Open the video's properties window and under the Presentation tab make your settings there.......

Quicktime pro offers the option to export to WMV so why is this happening?
Because the free version of Flip4Mac is being used to power the conversion; purchase Flip4Mac WMV Studio to export full length WMVs.
Even though it may look like the base QuickTime software is doing the conversion, it's not. QuickTime can't do anything with WMV content on its own.

Okay, now neither of the QT videos are working in Safari, though the Barbie one was working earlier in Safari. It's still working in FF. The new video is consistently giving me trouble in both browsers.
