Yes, it's still a "workaround". No, it's not intuitive and does not reflect the quality and ease of use that I have naturally come to expect from Apple. And at the same time, I don't think it's messy to simply add one additional (albeit, obvious and redundant as you suggested) rule and then just forget about it. Messy in my eyes would be to constantly have to re-add the rule, or perhaps even turn of live updating...

How is the iPhone to know the difference between you reviewing the playlist and wanting to choose something else to liten to next. Coverflow would show the same "set" of music that the vertical list shows. So when in 'Playlists' coverflow would show you each playlist. When in a playlist, coverflow would show you the music in that particular playlist. To go back, you use the back button, same as the list view has. Because...

I restored the phone and used my latest backup to restore the information it had before, and everything seems to be working perfectly now. Thanks for the help!

I have the same problem on my 3GS. I was manually managing my music, but when I go into the iPod app, it says "updating library" for a minute and then says "No Content".

Go into iTunes on your computer. Highlight the song in question. Hit (if you're on a Mac) Control and up pops a screen where you navigate to Get Info .
From there, go to the Artwork tab. Chances are you have multiple artwork covers with the first being a blank screen. Delete that and re-sync -- it should then show up on your iPhone....

Is the repeat function turned on? Look for a little circular arrow to the lower left of the progress bar when a song is playing. White=off Blue=on

Ok, this is cross fading. If you go onto itunes, click edit (at the top left of the screen), then select preferences. From there, click playback. Then the option comes up of how many seconds you want to cross fade or if you want to switch it off. simply untick the box. Hope this helps....

iTunes 9.0.2, iPhone 3GS 3.1.2. I am having a very similar problem. Updated genius on iTunes, restored iPhone, disabled genius, then synched, re-enabled and resynched. iTunes is able to generate genius playlists for these songs, but every time I attempt to do the same on the iPhone the music stops playing, the iPod app crashes, and I end up back at the home screen. As with an iPod, the iPhone includes a number of pre-set EQ settings. There is no custom EQ settings option.

Try this, sync your phone. Once complete, with your phone plugged in, go up to store and select " Authorize this computer". Disconnect your phone & see if it plays now.
