If I go to Preferences/Advanced and de-select "Copy files to iTunes Media folder", I send the AIFF's to a seperate disk when importing No. When Importing CDs, iTunes will put them into the iTunes music folder shown in iTunes prefs -> Advanced, even if Copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library is unchecked. Adding to library is not the same as Importing from audio CD. When you create a new library on the...

The problem does not seem to be limited to iTunes. Both from the Finder and from Toast my MacBook Pro refuses to burn anything onto CD-RWs. Have checked these discs on older Mac with 10.3 and there they burn fine, so a problem with the disks itself can be excluded. The logical conclusion would then be that the drive on my MacBookPro is dead, but this is not true - it does burn DVDs. Macbook Pro 2.16 Ghz Mac OS X (10.5.7) ...

Better yet, get an external drive to backup your entire HD.

If you want the tunes in order when ripping then make sure that you reverse the order of the CD by using the number column. This way the last tune on the CD will be ripped first and the first tune last. This will preserve the play order of the CD. If it is a multi- CD album then rip the last disc first and the first disc last.
If you sort a Playlist by the number column then you can ...

My question is how to import the duplicate songs into iTunes at higher resolution without replacing the existing AAC's.
Change your import settings to AIFF then insert the CD you want to import. When you try to import a CD that you've previously imported iTunes will ask you if you want to replace the existing songs, choose no.

The iTunes Store only holds covers for albums that it sells and even then may sometimes have trouble matching your album to the correct cover giving either the wrong cover or none at all. Use Google, Amazon, Discogs etc. to locate a relevant image and paste it in manually.
