Well, as you pointed out there is no chmod in Windows. If you want to secure your WP then the best place to find out such information is by addressing your issues to the WP forums as you have more of a chance that someone there can answer your concerns. Xampp, by default, is for development in a localhost environment not as a production server, without first knowing how to harden your Apache for Windows server. ( readme_en.txt file heading - A...

Well, with mod_perl that should be something like: Code: PerlResponseHandler ModPerl::Registry PerlOptions +ParseHeaders RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f RewriteRule !^.+\..+$ - [H=perl-script]

I finally got the Cold Fusion up : Here is Sequence 1) Get Apache running by itself 2) Test an index page 3) Add " index "dot" .CFM to the Apache Conf file 4) Remove any gaps in spaces in the allowed in the types of pages Apache allows: Found 2 large space gaps , closed them in and Apache stopped giving me a "default.php" error 5) Edit the Listening Ports in Conf File Save and 6) Re Start Apache for...

When I originally posted I was running 1.72 as a fresh install on a fresh Windows 7. Since then I removed 1.72 and "downgraded" to 1.71 Why? Because with 1.72 I cannot get phpmyadmin access from outside the LAN. I get a confusing error message with an unhelpful suggestion I modify a config file that contains entries I don't understand. After a night of messing around without success I gave up and went back to 1.71 BTW...

As mentioned, site created in 03 or 04, person who made the site is long gone. Don't know if he encoded or if that was an option way back then. Which is why I've loaded all files and mysql db into xampp so I can start working on retooling and updating the site, off line so I don't trash the existing site.

Its by far easier either to change all <? into <?php in your scripts or to set "short_open_tag = On" in php.ini and restart Apache than replacing PHP by an older version.

BTW, what version of XAMPP? Perhaps you have another server using the port that Apache uses. By default XAMPP will not ask for a user/pass combo. Try reading the xampp\apache\logs\error.log file for clues. Run the apache_start.bat file and see what the returned message tells you. Run the Port Check button in the XCP and see if the ports are in use or free. Read the readme_en.txt file and ...

Well, you have said much but have told us nothing that we can work with to troubleshoot what ever issues you are trying to explain. Remember that we can't see your screen nor know what you are doing or what you have done So clear concise details are required including error messages and error.log file entries that may apply on the date and time your issues surface.

Im sorry... and the reason they do not show anything or log is because they are ON?!? Read Much? Log errors ARE ON I want them ON . No errors are LOGGED . Nothing displayed on Web Browser for errors. So from you post, saying I should turn 'log_errors = off' to show errors? ok... Thanks for the no help in your 3 word post.

My setup is simple...I just want to be able to send email with attachments (pdf file on the server) to people. SO - if I understand correctly I just need SMTP. Can anyone point me to a step-by-step setup guide for doing this? Thanks in advance. Angus ...
