If you have Backup my settings enabled, backups happen during sync cycles. Following a flash, once you log into the phone, enter your G credentials, it starts the restore processin the background, automatically. What I don't know is if the backup initiates when you make changes or during sync when gmail updates. Also, not sure what gets backed up to tape and when...never sure what your restore looks like. As far as mail, I didn't...

Which home replacement do people feel is the most responsive? I tried Panda and found it to be a little laggy. Home++ was great, but still is a work in progress as it locked up my phone and gave me a few force closes. What about the rest?

Loccy's Better Browser is ALMOST ready for Android 2.0 and our DROID's, he said we will need root to install it though because it isn't a new browser, it actually replaces/modifies the stock browser and add's MT plus a TON of settings and other features. Also, he might need a few beta testers for the DROID, you would be able to get it before anyone else BUT you need to be able to do atleast 10 hours of testing and report...

Its a feature I have never needed to use. And I'm pretty sure that goes for most people. Apple and at&t need to come up with better feature than that. Both of them seem desperate.

For some reason, they decided that landscape for the home screen is not necessary without the keyboard open, and thus it doesn't matter.
Are you having problems with the accelerometer in other screens? Games, Messaging, Gmail, etc...

Unfortunately the droid does push the email from pop3 automatically even though you can select it do so as frequently as five minutes. you still have to manually open each account and refresh/load messages. Hopefullay there is a fix coming for this soon in their updates. For an immediate fix you can look for a 3rd party app like K9. You can research the pros and cons of the 3rd party apps on ...

With all contacts or only some?
I know with previous versions of android, if there was a , (comma) in the name of the person you are sending it to, it would send 2 messages.

from my understanding, Linux caches memory, basically getting it ready to be used. so it looks like it's being used even though it's not. it's in stand-by mode, so to speak. this is the reasoning for not using a task killer (at least from my understanding), because by caching memory the OS is actually speeding up the process of accessing that memory to be used for something.
someone please ...

Are you referring to unsing the Weatherbug app? If so, I don't know how to get the animation going. Personally, I like the app but for my job I tend to use weather underground a lot more.
On the phone go to Weather Underground (Mobile) or Welcome to Weather Underground : Weather Underground
Both will do animations and both take airport codes for locations.

I haven't found one either. After upgrading successively from on G'z One to the next, to the Boulder, then the Exilim, ALL of which let you use the Flash LED as a flash light, I find it insulting to be relegated to the iPhone crowd that use their LCD as a flashlight. What... seriously? I laughed the first time I saw one of my friends waving their iPhone around using the LCD as a dim flashlight...

Giving it a try.
Feels a BIT slower but I might get used to that, we'll see.
First issue: How do I get rid of an Application Dock widget? put a couple in the wrong place and now i cant move them by long-pressing
NVM, just had to longpress the side.

It will be free forever, not for just 3 days.
Apps --> Tools --> Just In.
1. Uses both a widget and a normal application to turn on the LEDs as a flashlight.
2. The widget icon will change depending on whether the LEDs are on or not.
3. The application will allow you to configure whether you want the screen to dim or not.
4. The application will allow you to use the LEDs as a strobe ...

Yeah i noticed that as well. Just posted something in the other flashlight thread about it. The MotoTorch is pretty sweet! Just press the little torch icon (cool touch) and bingo, the LED's are blazing. Another touch, they're off. Screen fades quickly... very nice... very convenient. Got my buck.

Man. I would have nothing but praise for this device if my experience mirrored yours. It's been a nightmare for me. I've poured easily 40 hours worth of investigation and work into trying to make it work.
I wish I knew what to do... I like the phone. The call clarity is fantastic and the rest of the gizmos are cool.
Did your contacts go in easily as well?

My Droid typically is between -75dBm and -87dBm, stationary on my desk, but often flips to 1x. Per the Verizon Dec 11th bulletin:
Far End Echo: The calling or called party to/from a Motorola A855 may notice their voice being echoed back into their earpiece.
Short term work around: The customer will need to power cycle their Motorola A855.
Planned Resolution: A fix...

that's really a stretch right there. in order to look at the phone to browse and whatnot, i have to take it away from my ear, meaning unless i put it on speakerphone or bluetooth, i cant hear anything.
if i'm connected via bluetooth, that means the phone is in my holster or i'm driving. i have no need or desire to browse the web. so basically the only time this becomes a factor is when i've ...
