You don't actually need an app for that. To change the email notification sound, go to Menu -> Settings -> Sound and Display -> Notification Ringtone, and set it. To change the SMS notification sound, go to Messages -> Menu -> Settings -> Select Ringtone. I can also highly recommend the app Missed Call. now sometimes when a call is incoming i cannot swipe the screen to answer and it goes blank then i wake it up and i only get the unlock keypad so I cannot answer the call..

If you do not want to use Gmail (although it is very good), there are a couple of decent POP/IMAP apps available: K9 (which is on the market) and Seven: http://www.seven.com/press_releases/...tsAndroid.html There is a link in the article to the free download. I use Seven which allows me to download ANY attachment on the phone (Gmail does not) and allows previews on the phone. Have fun. Oh yeah, if you do a bunch of traveling? Watch that data...

Hi all,
Has anybody else has encountered this problem following update to 1.6 (Donut).
The phone regularly crashes with the error:
" android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. - Force close"
I've seen a post elsewhere saying the only way to fix this is to wipe all data from the phone and start again. This seems a little heavy handed! Does anyone else have...

Yes, but you need an app for it.
The app called "Toggle Settings" allows you to have "profiles" such as those you'd find on other phones. There are 9 profiles in the app (Home, Internet, Location, Low Battery, Meeting, Night, Outdoor, and YouTube), and for each one you can set Airplane Mode, Auto Sync, Bluetooth, Fast Bright, Lock Screen, Orientation, Screen never timeout, Silent mode, WiFi, ...

What phone are you using, and what version of Android (official or customised)?
Here on Android 1.6. it's sorting alphabetically. I'm sure I recall seeing an app (or it might have been Android 2.0, I forget) that sorts them by most used first. Does the order look like it's the ones you call/SMS most at the top? If so there's like an option to change this by hitting Menu on that view.

There is a lot of confusion about what rooting really is.
To be clear, "rooting" simply means getting Super User (called root, from the old Unix days) access to the phone. This is like Administrator access in Windows - it means you do what you like with it without restriction.

Hrm - booting in Safe Mode without the SIM in should have stopped any app responding to anything.
In this kind of situation, apps can start in two ways.
Either - at boot time, or when they receive what's called an "intent" which is when certain events happen, like receiving a new SMS message or whatever.
So, if you boot in Safe Mode without the SIM in... what happens? Does it reboot ...

Just mount the phone to your p.c. and go to the DCIM folder and add a new folder, name it whatever, throw them in there and there you go.

I think this is this bug.
It's supposed to be fixed in 2.0.
In the Contacts app, if you press Menu and then Edit sync groups, are the groups you want to sync there?

I'm no programmer so this might not even be something that could be true but...
2.0 is very very new, there are still other devices coming out with 1.5 and 1.6 is already out. With the exception of a few apps id say most apps aren't 2.0 optimized for 2.0 let alone ready as I have seen some apps force close that used to be favs on my G1.

I have the HTC Hero. I use the gmail application.
Instead of deleting, what I do is "Archive" my emails so it goes away from my phone (actually just goes to a different label).
Maybe something similar will work for you?
