The 5870 is currently THE fastest DX11 video card available so it wasn't a mistake unless you play games at 1024x768 lol Originally posted by: dmw16 Got an email from NewEgg saying they had 5850's in-stock. 5 minutes later when I made it to the site it was gone So then I caved and bought a 5870 that they actually had in stock...oh well, what's $100? Please make me feel less ...

Your CPU is fine. A 5850 would be a fantastic choice, and to be honest a 5770 would be perfectly good as well ~MiSfit

Good news for laptop gamers, though I personally don't think a gaming PC is worth it if you can't upgrade it. Still, increased performance is always a good thing.

Sure, if you use a hacksaw to modify the contacts. It won't even plug in, much less work.

If my memory serves me right... GTS240 = 9800GT = 8800GT However, the GTS240 is meant for the OEM market (again, AFAIK), so I think you'll be hard pressed to find any of them available for purchase without a whole computer. There are a few low profile 9800GTs though, I'm pretty sure that's the fastest low-profile card you can get. So you might want to look for one. The 220/210 series are...

Isn't the resolution 1366x 720 or something like that? I think 1280x720 is too big. My 37" Vizio Tv is 1366x768 for 720p. Set it at 1366x768 . Do you have the latest drivers?

With only ~$20 difference I would take the 5770. -Lower power consumption -Better driver support going forward -DX11 for longer useful lifespan
