What do you need 8GBs of ram for? and especially 12GBs? If you in fact do require a lot of memory then 1366 is the way to go. Otherwise 860 is better for mild overclocking/power consumption.

Waiting for a little more info on the various i5 chips, but I'm almost certainly going that route late this year/early next year. Like you, I like my system just fine but have an itch for more. It's been almost a year now, so I suppose I understand why I want to upgrade, even if there is no real portion of my system I am dissatisfied with. I even went so far as to buy an i7 920 from Microcenter...

Use CPU-Z (CPUID utility) version 1.52. http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php It is the defacto standard for reporting/documenting Vcore by enthusiasts everywhere. Regardless how accurate or inaccurate the results may be, you want to have numbers you can compare to what everyone else talks about (which is their CPUz Vcore numbers). I.e. use the same voltage reading software as everyone else ...

The 435 will be faster if you happen to unlock that extra core. As for the motherboard, you'll want to make sure it has the AMD 710 or 750 southbridge (and not the 700 or 600).
