And you don't have to put a fathers name on the birth certificate. You're not married. You can simply put "unknown". Just an FYI.

I'm so sorry you're having to go though this. When I was five my brother died of sids at four month old my mom had me stay with my nana for about two weeks. Is ther someone who Abby loves that can watch her.

Usually one of his sisters is really great but she has a very hectic work schedule right now. So sorry you are dealing with all that. She sounds like a piece of work. How old is your DF? Sounds like he needs to stand up to his mom. If he is letting her control him now, I would seriously think about your future with him.

That is very sad but it sounds like the racism was just the tip of the iceberg. The kind of person who would spit on their child after a suicide attempt is the kind that probably also abused that child over a number of years whether that was verbal or emotional or whatever.
