I was wrong about the kill count. There is one that counts up to 10,000. After you reach that number, you get an avatar award. I doubt it will continue to keep record after this. To see this, you need to get onto the achievement screen, and press Y. You will see four other possible achievements. Nice addition to the game.

After playing Left 4 Dead 2, I conclude that it is the same old game. Feels exactly the same. Its a bit fun though, with the new types of zombies and characters, but it still feels like an arcade game.

Its released in Australia, but a terribly, non-gory, no blood version to comply with the Australian government. It really sucks, don't buy it.
