I think you are very wise and I believe you will receive a quick reply from the cardiologist. I had a case in July 2008 where a surgeon said he could put me into theatre, perform an arterectomy on my left coronary artery, and this would remove all the disease giving me a normal life again. He actually offered to do the procedure a week later. I researched this procedure and told him that I would let him know in due course because I was...

I think Spike put it very well; "What is it that is Good in your life? I know there must be something. I can think of at least two things myself, 1, You beat cancer! 2, You survived a heartattack! " You're two for two! If you can pull that off I would say you can do anything, just keep thinking positive and let us know how we can help. Jon

Thanks for the info, Ken. The computerized systems work well if the doctors and hospitals are all interconnected. Our doctor here is in the same system, but if another doctor sees us who does not have access to the same system, they cannot pull up any records at all.

I put incompetence of doctors under the unbrella of unsuitability. That not only includes improperly trained but not able/fit to practice effectively. It can include in house pressures to meet a quota, pressure to reduce costs, etc. As an example is HMO insurance. The policy includes their own doctors under contract as well as some...

You start now by eating healthy, keeping your weight down and exercising. Stay away from fatty Xanthoma , greasy, foods containing trans fat. Heredity also plays a role in cholesterol. Statins do improve cholesterol levels, but not sure if they have any affect one existing plaque. I think it just keeps it from getting worse. When you have your cholesterol checked the number they...

I am a heart patient w9ith history of ischemic MI. I always had my cholostral under control and I was all along very active. I never attempted heavy exercise regime, but I used to do 45 minutes of brisk walking five days a week. I am a non smoker. My diet was mostly vegeterian. Still I had clogged arteries. As I phisically recover from effects of MI (weakness, SOB, worry, recovery from heart enlargement), I have started believing that it is...

Frequent persistent pvc's [bigeminy & trigeminy] can cause sob if frequent enough or that's how my EP explained it to me. They can lead to cardiomyopathy (which I developed) and the CP may have been due to the over 54,000 pvc's I kept having; Sinus bradycardia (51 was my average on ekg's); Short QT intervals <360 ms [330-350]; short RR's and wide...

In Feb 07, I had my heart attacks and received emergency Emergency airway puncture Emergency contraception Angioplasty. A stent was put into my Obtuse Marginal and the attacks stopped. I thought it was all over. The cardiologist informed me that my left artery was 80% blocked near the top and it would be a simple matter of cleaning it out. For the next year, waiting for ...

There are lots of variables, so I'll ask a few questions... Did you stop taking atenolol 48 hours prior to the test? When you usually work out, is it vigorous?
The answer is yes, symptoms of breathlessness and chest pressure can occur in a New York Minute as blood clots can erupt quickly within your heart arteries. What is your doctor recommending? I suspect you are a ...

This is an interesting question to me, at what point is an "Excessive amount of Aspirin? I need someone to correct me or someone to clarify my next statement... Aspirin is an anti-platelet or anti-coagulant , I.E. when there is little turbulence in the blood the platelets tend to want to stick together. Get enough of these stuck together platelets and you have a plug for the ...

Cholesterol is considered a modifiable risk factor meaning it can be controlled. Once under control, you have less of the bad cholesterol ( LDL) and more of the good (HDL) and the risk is no longer there. Remember, a good lipid panel is a total cholesterol under 200, an LDL under 130 (unless you have other risk factors or CAD then it should be under 100 or 70 respectively) an HDL ...

My understanding is that scar tissue in the heart is not delineated by layers. Once the area of the heart is dead, I don't think it is only a surface issue, perhaps some one with more knowledge of that will post.

This is a question currently having heavy research. It is believed that some people do lose fat/plaque build up by natural processes in the body but the mechanics of it are not fully understood yet. Chemicals assisting calcium deposits are constantly in use with our skeletal Skeletal limb abnormalities structure, which means there is something to remove plaque. HDL Hdl ...

Your LDL is high, so it would be a good idea to take a low dose statin to improve it. Your LDL should be 100 or lower. You can, however, lower LDL by eliminating red meat. In one year time, you should see a considerable drop in LDL level. Also, salmon, nuts, omega 3 is good for the heart. Eat lots of fresh vegetables (not canned) and fruit, brown rice. What are your ...

It stands for decreased motion of the heart wall as the heart pumps. This could be of a minor to severe degree, and of variable size or extension. It is generally due to lack of blood supply to that area of the heart. Plus, you have a strong family history of heart disease as well so a visit to a cardiologist is very well warranted.
Good luck.

Grade II diastolic dysfunction is called pseudonormal filling dynamics. This is considered moderate diastolic dysfunction and is associated with elevated left atrial filling pressures. These patients more commonly have symptoms of heart failure and many have left atrial enlargement due to the elevated pressures in the left heart Other than that, your numbers are pretty much the ...

If medication does not reliefve your angina, you may require an interventional procedure, and stent would be first option to consider. A 60% blockage may not be a problem...but that blockage inaddition to distal stent may be a problem!? Assumption, less blood flow to the stented area causing reduced flow out of the stent. There may be some stenosis at that site of the stent....
