CHILDS BLOOD SUGAR LEVEL
Published (2010-01-04 10:41:00)
Two hours after a meal is considered "post prandial" and when the blood sugar is at its highest. However, that is a bit on the high side, and with her other symptoms it certainly couldn't hurt to talk to your doctor and have her tested.

Smoking and diabetes type 1

Giving up smoking is really not easy. Took me a long time to finally stop. But it is well worth it. Get assistance from your doctor (or there are also good online resources), if you can't manage by yourself. Best wishes.

My son lost his Medicaid coverage a couple months ago when he turned 21. We were both frantically trying to figure out how we could afford to keep him on his Animas pump since he pretty much refused to go back to syringes. I tried all those links that are listed above in the other responses, and trust me, none of them can offer any assistance for those over 18. And the ones that offer "discounts" on prescriptions are...

Lantus only for type 1 diabetes
Published (2009-12-30 05:07:00)
Thanks for your very helpful comment which I agree with entirely. In the meantime I have discovered that he has no antibodies. I'm still trying to find out whether they have tested for c-peptide. It looks as though he is not type 1 like me and it's possible that the medication he is taking for his schizophrenia has precipitated the whole thing. Unfortunately, this particular drug is the only one that satisfactorily controls his...

It has been around 3 years since I got it, and I have been doing well with keeping my blood sugars according to my doctors and A1C. But when I did some research on the internet I found out that my life expectancy is suppose to be 15 years less. This made me really sad Depression , almost tearing up. I agree with everyone above that you should be checked out. The fasting level is into the pre-diabetic range which begins over 100 (126 is considered diabetic). You definitely show a high response to the sugar and so an OGTT test would be warrented.

Hey :) Just another Diabetic, not a doctor. I'm 16 years old and was diagnosed two months ago. Thats how I felt a lot, I also urinated frequently and was constantly thirsty. MY friends even made fun of me because of how often I used the restroom. But whenever I eat something high in sugars, I normally just want to sleep. All last year for instance, I'd pass out in 5th and 6th ...

Unfortunately weight management is not as easy as we'd like. And sometimes it doesn't make sense. keep up with the exercise and healthy eating. You may need to further reduce your carbs to get weight loss. But do make sure you are eating enough calories (too few calories will put your body into starvation efficiency mode, which will make it even harder to lose weight).
Can...

i would ask to be further tested for diabetes, rather than just the fasting blood sugar. you should also ask for a thyroid panel to be done. Iron, b12 and vit d could also be part of screening.

It sounds to me as if your son is getting sub-standard care. If he was given his treatment instructions by the hospital where he was admitted for an emergency, he needs to be seen for follow up by his regular doctor or preferably an endocrinologist to get him on the right path. No, only taking the Humolog when he is high is not the current standard of care.He needs to work with ...

I'm so glad you posted here, as I understand what you must be going through. There is a thread just above yours you should read which talks a bit to your questions. And there has been so much progress in the last couple ...

It might be completely unrelated, but the fact that it's swollen Swollen glands as well as tingling means you should probably check it out. Problems with feet can be a complication of diabetes, especially if you have had high blood sugar for a prolonged period of time. Can't hurt to have it looked at by your doc.

hi,
yes, it is high. Normal Normal saline flush is less than 95. you could also try testing him 2 hours after eating. Anything above 120 is also too high.
He needs to get in to see his doctor asap and make sure they do proper testing.
In meantime try to give him complex carbs that digest more slowly than sugar.
