Samsung has officially announced a big new firmware update for its i8910 HD, bringing faster web browsing, faster multimedia access and, most desired of all, full Symbian^2/N97-style kinetic scrolling in all dialogs and screens. See below for the press release text. The bad news? You'll have to wait until next month to get it, via PC Studio update. Read on in the full article .

The Smartphone Experts network (a group of sites, each focusing on a different platform) is currently doing its annual Smartphone Round Robin, where each site tries for one week two of the best smartphones of each competing platform and writes a review. Last week the staff of iPhoneBlog.com reviewed the Nokia N97 mini and the N900. It's an interesting read. And so are the other reviews of the Round Robin; for example, also last week Nokia...

I think this is the original date when N86 firmware was to arrive, but it was delayed as nokia engineers are too stupid to make it on time. I think so as today some new firmwares has been released: N82, N95. I'm getting impatient... UPDATE: ORIGINALLY THE RELEASE DATE WAS ARTER 25.12, NOT TODAY, AS i've learned now from reliable sources.

I understand that the Xenon topic is really important and close to the hearts of N82 users like me but I hate to see this thread hijacked as this is also a pretty important thread. v35 seems like a practical joke by Nokia on its users as there is nothing new. NOTHING AT ALL. I can't wait to see the changelog. To be honest, long list of under the hood changes would make me even sadder as it would mean that firmware was still unfinished.

Yes, move over " The Gadget Show", and prepared to be enthralled by the man in the grey jumper…
I'm not sure if it comes across in the video, but I really enjoyed playing with the N97 Mini. I thought that it was an impressive device, but perhaps too complicated for the average user to tailor to their requirements. Coming back to Symbian from the Dark Side, it still strikes me as an incredibly...

A very fair review Ewan.

Incidentally, if anyone from Nokia is reading this, can you please call your SMS/POP e-mail client and push e-mail client different names?
At the moment there's:
"Messaging" which handles SMS texts and POP/IMAP e-mail on Nokia phones
but there's also:
"Nokia Messaging" which can be installed to provide push e-mail and IM on Nokia phones
I can tell you right now that if Nokia ...

I'll follow up with my own view of the E72 in due course, but what I will say is that its my primary devices (or more accurately one of them) at the moment.
Unlike Steve I've had no issues with Nokia Messaging or Exchange (use both), which of course makes a big difference.
There are some early bugs (e.g. space bar and keyboard not keeping up if you type very fast), but they haven't been...

This looks really poorly designed, far too much clutter to be usable. And it's a really ugly font they've used.
It'll be irrelavant anyway, once Spb launch their Symbian version of Mobile Shell.

What is Python used for? Is it worth the installation? I have noticed this on my N86 for about 2 weeks now but didn't download it as I don't want an app to take up space if it won't do anything for me.

Google maps could have all the brilliant features in the world, but as long as it doesn't allow pre-loading it is not at the races. The fact that there are often times when the connection isn't available or slow and you have a grey screen is stupidity in the extreme. All because Google want to track where we are.
Nokia maps wins by walkover. Google failed to present a fully working product.
