Chest
Published (2009-11-21 00:00:00)
QUESTION: I’m 17 year old and 5’4” tall boy. My weight is 60 kg(133 lbs), body fat 17.54%, which I heard is normal for my age and height. My waist is also not too much, 31”. I have some fat in every part of my body, but the main problem is I have too much fat in my chest, my chest is 34”. I run for 20 mins everyday and I started this program 3 weeks ago. Back then, my waist was 32”. But my chest is as it is. Also, I did freehand...

Standards of stregth
Published (2009-11-22 00:00:00)
Dear Jerry, I'm glad I have found your site, I believe your advice is very valuable and insightful. Now, I am a 32 year old male, unfortunately with subpar genetics for muscle buildup. I've always been interested in standards that indicate a good level of strength. I stand 6'4'' and weigh 200 lbs. Can you name me 1RM values, relative to my bodyweight, that you consider great or at least good. I am, of course, drugfree,...

Deadlifts
Published (2009-11-25 00:00:00)
Thanks a lot for your answers, Karen. I got your point about unnecessary variations.  The hardgainer in question is my friend, by the way. Me and him both have just started the shotgun method i told you about. I am a typical endomorph. I wanted to ask you whether I can avoid squats and do deadlifts on both of the shotgun days( http://www.tmuscle.com/free_online_article/sports_body_training_performance_body... )? I have relatively...

workout routines
Published (2009-11-19 00:00:00)
QUESTION: how long should a workout routine be followed to see results? can i drop it if i see no results after a month? ANSWER: It depends what type of results you are looking for.  Generally, I am always tweaking my routine every month.  Maybe changing the sets or reps or doing different exercises for a muscle group.  It takes a good 2-3 weeks for your body to adapt to a workout routine anyways, so I would give it...

my 11 year old son -baseball
Published (2009-11-22 00:00:00)
My son is 11 and plays baseball, he would like to increase his upper body, he asked for a bench press for Christmas. I am very confused-do you recommend getting him one with weight plates or are the ones that use resistance bands okay, he says he wants real metal plates. I think the bands seem safest. Answer I think he should be mastering bodyweight exercises before he worries about the bench press at the age of 11. He could do some exercises...

Calisthenics or Weights?
Published (2009-11-25 00:00:00)
Hello, I'm a 25 year old male 5'10" 170lbs. and my question regards the use of calisthenics over weight training. I've recently added more dumbbell exercises to my routine but I'm not sure it's worth it for my upper body because of the workout I'm receiving with my body weight exercises(the lower body I feel gains more with them through squats, lunges, Bulgarian squats, etc.). I cannot find anything leaning...

Weights

More reps vs more weight I am a 61 year old male, in reasonably good health. After a few months  of laying off from just lifting medium weights, I want to get back into a bit more serious routine. I don't particularly care about strength, just bulk and tone. I currently do 3 sets of 15 reps at at weight that is comfortable. Which is better: 1. more weight 2. more sets 3. more reps per set Answer Both I generally lean towards more...
