Published (2009-11-15 00:00:00)
i have a basset hound. their so cute but i have a problem, i have had her for a year and she still goes to the bathroom in the house! we don't have any other dogs so that might be the issue but i really don't want to give her away!   Answer Hi Sanday, Because your dog has been going to the bathroom in your home for at least a year, it's going to take plenty of consistency, persistence and LOTS of patience to get her...

training a 2 yr old adopted...
Published (2009-11-15 00:00:00)
Hello! We just adopted a smooth fox terrier female who has grown up with only woman (i think) and other dogs. She was only an inside dog but loved the local dog park. We were told she's never barked, howled, was pee pad trained and knew basic training. Things are different than expected. She's attached to me but not my husband. A  little weary of him. She initially growled at him, and also growles at new people coming into...

A couple of lab questions
Published (2009-11-15 00:00:00)
Hi there, before I start I want to say that I used this site when we bought our first lab puppy nearly three years ago. We're in the North of England and your advice at the time on puppy training was excellent (Max even won puppy class). So three years on you are the first name I thought of when I needed some more advice. I have a couple of questions (if this is ok) and I will refresh you on the background. Wife and two kids in the house,...

Spontaneous behavior
Published (2009-11-15 00:00:00)
my dog just had a few minutes of weird behavior. i was cooking, and all of a sudden, my dog started freaking out, the hair stood up on her back, barking, growling, not acting like herself at all. Shes never done that before, than she started making small tight circles around me, and than increased the radius but still making circles with her hair standing up, and barking and growling, but looking towards the cupboards. i looked in them and...

shedding schnauzer and grooming
Published (2009-11-14 00:00:00)
I have a 11 month old female schnauzer that I bought in Canada. I need a non-shedding dog due to allergies. Unfortunally at 8 wks old, she had a vaginal infection that she looks like she is getting over now. She was dirty and smelled when I picked her up at 8 weeks old. ( I did my homework but didn't physically check out the breeder due to distance). After washing her with puppy shampoo..and for many months she had a strange...

wetting at night
Published (2009-11-15 00:00:00)
Hi, i recently got a shih tzu dog aged 4 from a work colleague who unfortunately had to re-home him as he had nipped her young child.  He settled into his new home really well and already is part of our family and absolutely adored. He had a couple of wetting accidents in the first few days which i put down to the change of environment and him just needing to settle in. We then had 2-3 weeks of no wetting at all but just recently over...

my chocolate labrador

hi my chocolate Labrador has just come out of season, by 2 days. but today whilst at work she has been very poorly, sickness and diarrhea. when i went to bed she seemed lethargic, but it didn't worry me to much, after some sleep i woke up to hear her making groaning noises, thinking she wanted to go out i got up to find she is struggling to stand up on her back legs, one seems to be in the air, she is still very alert, and the tail is...

puppy food
Published (2009-11-11 00:00:00)
I have a 6 month old weimer. We have been feeding him Eukanuba for Large Breeds. I read somewhere online that it has been found to contain an ingredient that can be toxic. Is this true? My puppy loves it? Is this a good quality dog food or is there something else at about the same price? Thank you! Answer Hello Paty, Proctor & Gamble is the company that makes Eukanuba, this is also the company that manufactures Air Fresheners,...

Hello, I adopted a female cockapoo, Coco, a few months ago from a shelter. She is 5 1/2 months and adjusting well. I have a couple of questions. We are crating her at night and during the day when my wife isn't home or when Coco hasn't gone to the bathroom in a while. She is on a good schedule for house training. She goes out in the morning at about 6:30 am, then gets fed. She gets a walk ...
