Published (2009-12-17 00:00:00)
John, I have a New Haven beehive shelf clock that is encased in a dark case and is in excellent running order; however, the silver face with black numerals is in very poor condition and either needs to be reconditioned or replaced. Can you please provide guidance on how and where this can be done? Answer Mark, I answered your Allexperts question, but it appeared on my screen again which means it did not go through. I have...

Help
Published (2009-12-13 00:00:00)
Hello I have a Franz Hermle wall clock # 341-020 that will not keep runing. I wound it and swung the pendulum but the pendulum keeps stopping. Can you help. Thanks Answer I suspect your clock is out of beat. Try this, holding the pendulum at its very bottom, pull down with a force of about 1#, thus holding, swing the pendulum back and forth in an arc of about 3" allowing 1.5" on to...

Seth Thomas Helmsman clock parts
Published (2009-12-16 00:00:00)
I have a Seth Thomas Helmsman Clock Model # E537-001. There is a ring around the clock which has spokes coming out like the wheel of a ship. One of the attachment pieces the screw that attached to the clock itself has broken off. I was wondering where I might get a replacement for it. Answer This is a tough one. So far as I know there are no reproduction pieces being made that would match your original. The only...

Quartz movement for a Linden...
Published (2009-12-14 00:00:00)
Hi, Martin. There are two numbers in the battery slot (quartz movement which includes a pendulum): 19608 and 5081T. Any idea where I could locate a replacement? The wife will appreciate it. Answer Hi John, The numbers are not battery numbers of any format I have seen, and are usually manufacturer's numbers and with meaning only to them. Not being able to see the clock, I can only guess on battery...

1927 Montgomery Bros (mini) Clock
Published (2009-12-15 00:00:00)
I just inherited a 1927 Montgomery Bros wind-up clock. It has a key and has serial numbers and the date inscribed. It's ticking so it seems to be working. It is about 4 inches tall with all glass sides so the mechanics are visible. I have been unable to find any information on the internet, even about Montgomery Bros Los Angeles (as is reads on the face). Inside it says Made in France. Any information would be appreciated. Thank you, Amy...

I have some small mechanical alarm clocks with things that move on the outside. They need fixing, but I can't find a book that is for someone who knows nothing about clocks. Like clock fixing for dummies. I would like to take them apart, clean them, etc. Do you have any suggestions?
Answer Carol, most clockmakers start out by working on mantel, wall and floor clocks. Alarm clocks are what...
