Good point. I guess there is no telling how many cars are still "out there".

I have a headlight surround that I thought was for a Sprint (it was in the Sprint when I got it, but its clearly not for a Sprint.) The inside says Carello-07.372.580-D If anyone knows what its for, and needs it I have no use for it. Looks to be complete, chrome is fair, no pitting, but its starting to craze a little (very lightly). If I had to guess, I think it could be for a spider, on the right side, but honestly I have no clue what its...

I can't say I'm a fan of the Vredestein. if you look at the pictutres you'll see the problems people have with them. they develop a dent in the side wall. It is a shame to fit them to your car when there is an appropriate Michelin XAS which is a fantastic tyre or even the original equipment Pirelli Cinturato, both of which are genuine period tyres, so they are designed to compliment cars with this sort of suspention and steering...

I like the originality -barn find- of this (first picture) 1962 10123*372601 1600 with dash edging rather than padding with mirror N0095 -yes, it's upside down... I also like the originality -long term owner until last year- of this (second picture) 1962 10103*370077 1300 with non original dash and with mirror N0095. It's hard to trust fixed up/restored cars because they got whichever the restorer prefered or whichever was available...

Wyatt, since I asked the question, thanks for your response. The market can get skewed by bogus bidding on E-bay and public auctions and then the idolized sources (SCM) pile on and then no one knows the real value. Appreciate your coming to the fore without compromising the buyer. I have a car like this and I do have an definite interest in pegging the value, unlike some others who enjoy reading their posts to themselves. I do believe the...

I'm not sure if the bore is the same but I'd have to say that running the 1750 (left one?) in a 1300 (assuming it is the same bore size) will blow the compression ratio through the roof due to the fact that it is quite a bit taller. You will likely run into piston to valve contact issues forcing the use of some wild cam timing. I'm doing a lot of speculating here, so hopefully someone else who ...

Erik Welcome to the BB. Incredible restoration from a lot of iron oxide. A while ago there were a few posts about fear of rust--Feophobia was one definition that I recall. You may have a remedy. Looking forward to following your progress.

Hi Will Alfa never sequenced the engine numbers with the Chassis numbers, my own 1493E*06193 had engine 1315*30800, the block you have would be period correct for any '58 Sprint Veloce. Ciao Greig

Dear Jim, Please find attached a link with respect to installing the windscreen. I posted in my response a step by step approach. I originally tried to assemble the chrome to the windscreen off the car but this did not work, hence my second approach to install the posts and the lower rubber first. and then isnstaall the window including the top rubber and chrome. I was quite surprised...

Yesterday my dad and I cleaned out the spark plug holes (twigs, acorns, rat nests, etc.) and took out the spark plugs for a quick visual inspection of the cylinders, pistons, and valves. Today, we plan on draining the oil and fabricating a tool to spin the oil pump with new oil installed. Then we will try to turn the engine over manually. I may work on cleaning the inside out, too.
