Thanks for the tip Jay The amalgamating tape is pretty similar to what you mentioned- the stuff I found is sold by Nitto as Butyl tape. It's like really thick (black) cling wrap that sticks to itself but not to the loom, so you don't need to cable tie it and it doesn't go gummy. Not cheap, but I only used about 1/3 of the roll to do the headlight harness! It's easy to source here too which helps!

Hi guys...I just came over from another thread about replacing the flwheel. I share the "starter pain". I just pulled the old starter (installed May 2009) ...another "broken nose" on the starter. So, for now, I'm off the "remove flywheel" track, and trying to figure out where/how I can get the right starter. Slyalfa, you had some very good information on model numbers for the various...

78 Spider fuses and wiring
Published (2009-11-08 11:02:00)
I am having trouble finding the correct fuses for my 78 Spider. I am also in need of its fuse schematic! The GCB 8 and GBC 16 fuses I found are slightly too big (by a millimeter or so - they are described as being for German cars) than what is in the car now. I am in the process of fixing the wiring and want to be sure that I start with the correct baseline. My tail lights / reverse lights are not working, and the HI/Lo headlights seem to have...

From the Urban Dictionary: "Not good, not up to the task, not true. Originally a UK schoolboy slang expression: "a pile of pants", presumably the equivalent of dirty, smelly washing. Later spread to adults and abbreviated. "It doesn't work. It's just a pile of pants!" or "I don't like that group. Their music is pants" cf "balsa" and "a...

Custom/Upgraded battery Cables,...
Published (2009-11-12 17:56:00)
There is a marine supply house near me that makes their own cables. Any gauge and connectors, but a little pricey. I just replaced the alt to junction block cable with a standard item from Advance, picked up a half volt on the voltage gauge.

Sorry, I probably should have posted this in the Wiring Diagrams thread but
didn't find it until just now. Just to clarify, the car is a 105.37.

Hi Everyone:
Does anyone here have a source for an aftermarket/upgraded custom battery cables supplier? I think that upgrading the cables at either end of my trunk-mounted battery is going to solve a lot of problems with electrical gremlins, (it has in the past with other cars).
I tried sending to custombatterycables.com and they are not responding right now, so I just ...

I think the busted happens when you get a slow start and the motor kicks backwards.
when I busted my old one it was very clear it kicked backwards and my starter had the busted nosecone afterwards.
I have posted this before.

Attach the ground wire from the new electric pump to a convenient chassis ground.
Remove the four wire connector from the foot washer pump. Locate the blue or gray wire (depending on the year) in the connector and remove it from the connector.
Insulate the end of the wire and tuck it up out of the way as it will no longer be used.
Install the power wire from the new electric pump into the ...

It depends upon your coil. A Bosch Blue coil or similar needs .025". Mine are at . 040" but I have a Milano coil and MSD spark box. You should set them to .025" with a 123ignition dizzy and a standard coil.
