So is this Alfa Romeo history or Maserati history? This little dilemma has taught me to not get too wrapped around a badge but rather to just sit back and realize that the most glorious era of motorsport has passed us by and to laugh at all the folks who get their panties wrapped around an axle when they are completely missing the point...

To put Norway on the Alfa Romeo historic map - There was a norwegian driver, Eugen Bjørnstad, who also drove a Monza in the late thirties, and won some Grand Prix races. He was highly respected at the factory and also by the local alfa fans. He was honorary member of the Norwegian Alfa Romeo club until he deceased in ´92. 1937 GRAND PRIX SEASON - PART 3 http://www.kolumbus.fi/leif.snellman/db.htm#BJ

Let me tell you something about the Piedmontese nobility, as you know i live in Turin. Beaumont is a village in Haute-Savoie, french Alps. The dynasty of the Savoy, the kings of Italy, comes from that area as the name suggests. 6 centuries ago, the Duchy of Savoy was a territory that went from Geneva to Nice, passing through Turin and the valley of the Po. The capital was Chambery and later on Turin. The Revelli were an old military family and...

Here are a few links that mention Calcianu and his Alfa, but not much more information I'm afraid:

There seem to be no mentioning of Jean Calcianu in Simon Moore's " The Legendary 2.3"

Bob,
A nice tribute. I had some work done by Horst on a Giulia Spider autocross car, and got to know him sufficiently to have short conversations at race tracks. My best memory is a Mid-Ohio Trans-Am where he was easily leading the Brock Datsun 510's and would have won had he not pressed on and broke something. His response to my query about slowing down for an easy finish was something like...

... then there must be an error here.
I am quite sure that Henry never owned a 3000PR. Several years ago, Henry painstakingly made a list of all the interesting Italian cars that he had owned ... as well as a few that are (were) not terribly "interesting". I visited with him at length only a bit more than a year before he passed and there was no mention of (or anything that could have been ...

Hi Everybody,
does anyone of you have photos of GTA 1300 Junior that was driven by the dutchman Hennie v.d. Vliet in Zandvoort 1971 ? The car had the number 16, and it was painted blue / white / red.
Thanks and advance !...

The Alfetta GTV was called Alfetta Sprint Veloce in the US. The Alfetta GT
had 1.6 and 1.8 engines, while the GTV had a 2.0. The latter was available
from 1977 (I think) in Europe. I assume the US version had Spica mechanical
injection compared to the carb setup used in Europe and elsewhere.
