Thanks everyone for helping, once again. It's great to be aware of these things, I'm glad I asked - learned something new. (On a side note: I'm surprised to see that most pilots are incredibly helpful to each other. It's not something I saw a lot in my 9-5 job that I traded in for flying..)

There is nothing in 61.187 that states a certain amount of training in a complex aircraft is required to be logged. As you noted, good judgment is a separate issue.

Thanks for the update. Now...stop studying. If you do not know it by now you likely will not learn it tonight. You are prepared or else your cfi wouldnt have endorsed you. Take a break and relax you will do just fine on the oral. Good luck on the test, it is one of the 3 (possibly 4) most nerve racking checkrides you will ever take. It is a great feeling when you get to log PIC without putting anything in the solo column for the first time.

I assumed that the OP will eventually be seeking employment as a pilot, and so is concerned with gaining enough experience to get a job. There are specific instances where sim time can be used to get a rating, but the general consensus seems to be that your potential employer doesn't care for your sim time, so don't start adding that to the total time as you fill out your apps. That said, one thing I've learned here is that your...

You better just be prepared to teach in it. I would recommend doing some training with someone on the aspects involved with the complex aircraft. If you really like this person, get them authorized to use the plane, or just use their instructor and still have the other guy sign you off for the check ride. 100 ways to go about it.

don't know if this helps..... but try to think of yourself as more of a professional than a private pilot. Think about your need for knowledge of systems, weather, contingencies, etc. Don't over do it, but try to come off as being serious and just...well....professional - knowing your stuff, but not being arrogant. If you make a mistake, admit it and correct for it. If you feel that you ...

Both Flight Safety and Simuflight have outposts in the DFW area. The biz jet type courses are a couple weeks and $$$$. Higher Power still does a few 737 types each month and some other training. Simuflight has some general subjects classes, CRM, Polar ops, etc. Got no idea about timing and cost.

You should get some solid professional advice on this but there are two considerations: 1. You need to self-certify every time you fly, even only exercising sport pilot privileges, that you do not have a medical condition that makes it unsafe for you to fly. 2. You cannot have been denied a medical or had one suspended or revoked. See 61.303(b). There is no need for you to surrender ...

I don't think it works quite that simply with aviation universities. While I have very little knowledge about them, I think they do the flight training and ground "education" separately. But don't quote me on that, I really don't know and I'm sure someone else here can you give a much better answer. What I do know is that places like ERAU are incredibly expensive methods of getting your flight...
