I'd enjoy checking somebody out in 55908 who has flown the G1000 in an SR20, SR22, and Phenom and only flown "non-glass" for a few hours in the Arrow & Seminole...it'd be fun <hand wringing smiley>

Sebastian, let me guess who is the best instructor over there? hmm... it must be WEST! i discovered being ripped off on the second day in school, but people told me that it was too late, i signed the contract already. (although i had the right to discontinue the training) for those who are interested in this school, just go for it if you think they still have connection with airlines, and overpaying 30-40% higher training fee than other...

Flight School Interview...
Published (2009-12-28 11:55:00)
Thanks. The interview went well. I filled out some paperwork, we went over my resume, company history, expectations, etc. She liked me and I liked the company. I went up for an interview flight with the Chief Pilot and I guess I did alright there, even with the months of rust. Just did some basic PPL maneuvers and touch and go's. The next day I was in for orientation and the aircraft checkout... I was back to instructing by the weekend!...

Food for thought: There was a time when taking your time meant dropping hundreds of senority numbers at that first regional, not today. Look into a program where you pay as you go. So what if it takes more time. You're not loosing a place at the table, with few jobs opening up. You'll be much happier going into your first aviation job debt free as apposed to being heavily in debt and having no way to pay it off.

A phenom type rating is still going to be a substitute for operational experience...unless the students all get 1000 hours in left seat. Is turbojet training a good thing? At the entry level, probably only for the very best students. But I don't see how the potential career benefit can justify the cost of such a program. Or maybe they are just looking at how a shiny little jet will boost ...

Search through this forum and you'll find a lot of opinions on DCA, the majority not being positive. Personally, I wouldn't recommend it--a lot of sizzle up in Sanford without much steak, and a overly hefty price tag. As for the other day's fatal SR-20 crash, I wouldn't factor that in too heavily. Not yet, at least. With the volume of training they do it was always more a matter of 'when' ...

I'll leave the FIT question for others to answer. But be sure to check out Jacksonville University - they have an aviation program, too. Jacksonville U. is second only to Embry-Riddle in aviation degrees awarded in the state of Florida. Website - Jacksonville University :: Home .

I've heard nothing but bad things about flight safety... Way too expensive for what you get, they treat you like children, they gouge you for money every chance they get, employees have a bad attitude, upper management is a joke, and with the exception of the seminoles the planes are old and are down for maintenance a lot. the pilots that have told me this say they would never go there again and ...
