I agree with you that this is not the last we will hear of AVATAR. Like you, i suspect that Cameron might be or thinking of cooking a director's cut of the movie. I wouldn't be suprised if some months from now and come the DVD/blu-ray release, there would be news about a director's cut coming.

Foreign box Office for a few days of release is pretty decent, $192m uptil the 21st. I would hope that if something as brainless as 2012 got $555m (78% of the movies total box office came from foreign markets) from foreign box office then Avatar could get around that. Only time will tell, but it certainly doesn't look like being a financial bomb even with how expensive it was to make.

Battle For Terra had the much better score. Really good animated film as well.
