My brother's camera is actually a Canon HF-10, not a Sony . But I don't think that matters - the file format and my samsung blu-ray player are the real problem. Help? Amanda

I am not very good at digital stuff and I don't know exactly what the video format is, such as mp4 , wmv , avi , and so on. I only know my iPod accepts mp4 video, my windows movie make supports wmv and if you want to upload your videos to youtube.com you have to make it into flv I think. And if you have a Camcorder video I think not many player can play it so just convert them. You know I can easily manage those video format because of...

There are some good FREE encoders out there. I'm assuming these are burned to the DVD as a data disc? You can try Super or Handbrake to re-encode them to the format of your choice. Here is a good article here on AD comparing some of these programs: http://www.afterdawn.com/news/archive/20681.cfm

Mod is the video file format used on many digital camcorders, such as the JVC Everio, the Canon FS100 and the Panasonic D-Snap SD-card camcorders. Have you ever been caught in such situation: You recorded wonderful moment or happy pictures during holiday and wanted to share them with others? But you suffered from playing the video on your computer or other devices because most players and portable devices cannot accept the format (Mod/Tod)....

Not many players like this!
Published (2009-12-08 02:27:00)
I just bought my first flat screen TV, a 46 inch Samsung that I'm real happy with. Now I need to get a new DVD player and I'm definitely leaning towards a new Hi-def DVD recorder. One I"m curious about is the Phillips DVDR3576H. What makes it unique, as far as I can tell, is it's one of the few DVD recorders with a hard drive.
