Wow. This is RAD? as posted above. This sounds all too familiar. Things are great as long as there's a shallow relationship. Is RAD a spectrum disorder? Are there different levels or is there just RAD? Gotta go do some research.

Okay, I'm officially jaded. I've known that song for years, thought it was sweet and it brought tears to my eyes. I heard it yesterday. The line about how Christmas Carol crawled up in his lap......all I could think was, "Yeah, Bubba used to do that. RAD. Too bad he doesn't see it." Sad. Ruined a perfectly good song for me! But it's still sweet.

OH MY!! Christmas Gifts for FK
Published (2009-12-23 19:45:00)
One of my placements was a 2 1/2 yr old girl and an 18 month old boy. Kids didn't have toys at home or very many clothes. The parents wanted to show CPS that they really did care and would buy them clothes all the time, which was great except that they had no idea what size they wore even after the CW kept telling them. The Dad thought the boy was like a 5 yr old and the girl was like a 7 yr old. I think it was their perception of their...

Ummm...I would also suggest putting in your 30 days notice for her. I feel her perceptions or lies are a danger to you and your family. I really feel don't feel comfortable with this situation at all.

I dropped off my fd at daycare today knowing that dhs is supposed to pick her up and return her to mom this afternoon. We only had her 11 days but they are so easy to love. I am also a praying woman and it is the only thing that allows me to lay my head down and sleep at night without a major panic attack. There is nothing I can do to keep that baby safe but I believe my God is watching her and I pray for baby and mom...and I pray that He...

I'm assuming the relative died without a will - without designating someone specific to take custody of the children? And then the children went into foster care?
If that's the case, then here they'd do a search for the bio father(s) or their families first. If they find a father, and he wants the kids, he gets them. If they find a father, and his family wants the kids, they get them.

I would imagine that the parents still have the ultimate say with something like this. Its an elective surgery and not a necessity Even if the baby has been removed they have not lost their rights so it would be up to them to cut or not to cut. I know in my state you can't even trim kids hair without parental permission.

I'm sorry. I can't help. I cried when I read your post. I suspect I would not handle a situation similar to this well.

My FD's half sister's BD is an RSO. He recently surrendered, but before that it was about 20 months of offered services. He was not completing any of these services, so he would not have gained custody; but, if he had completed the services then he would have had an opportunity to gain custody. I believe this also depends on the level of the RSO. Your agency can provide the BD with services--...

Stay there in the moment. He needs you now. So much can change day to day in the Foster/Adopt world. You can drive yourself crazy with all the what ifs. The only thing you know for sure is that he is with you now and he needs your full attention.
If you pray, I encourage you to pray that whatever happens is the best thing for this little boy. Then ask God for help to accept whatever ...

No idea what to say other than to offer a hug and a thank you for all you have done and are doing to protect those girls.....even through such difficulty for yourself.
I am so sorry that your family isn't more supportive of you and your efforts to provide a safe and stable life for your girls.
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a resolution to your situtation.

Will the caseworker not contact the school about the confidentiality issue? That's huge. As far as the meds go, there is no way they can require that. Does she have an IEP? I would take it to the principle's supervisor on the district level if the problem continues, since obviously they are failing to provide a proper educational environment in the least restrictive setting, thus violating ...

Oh the things you find out. Amazing what you have been doing and didn't even know it, isn't it. LOL. I hope it all ends up okay in the end. Glad to hear they at least aren't taking it all completely seriously.

My son got one toy from the county when he was still a fc; when we fostered years ago we got two kids the day before xmas eve. I had to run around like a wild woman to get them gifts b/c the county had nothing left. Let the baby's get spoiled, and enjoy the fact that you don't have to go shopping!!

Banana was a 3 month old infant with a depression fracture to her skull just above the ear. The trauma doc said that it would take the force of a fall from the roof of a one storey building to cause the radiating fractures from the wound. The fragments of bone apparently went deep enough to touch brain tissue. Although her face had an extremely odd shape due to the swelling, she was ...

My 13 month old FD was born "HIV exposed." One of the reasons she came into care was medical neglect. CW didn't tell us about her risk until 3 months after she was placed with us. (She was 10.5 months at that time). We had her tested, but needed the program director's approval and request before it could be done. I don't know if newborns are routinely tested, but even if they were it may not mean...

I don't know how it works in your state, but I can give you the rundown on our experience with our kids.
TPR was March 2 of this year. Then there was a 30 day wait for parents to file for appeal. Add to that the additional 60 days that was necessary for the kids to become legally available for adoption. Our agency would not begin to update the homestudy until that happened. We also had ...
