We are getting closer, but also sad

Adoption is always such a mixed blessing ... moments of great joy always come at the cost of great sadness or loss to others.? My boys both have several bio siblings & half-siblings from lots of?bmom/bdad relationships and one-night stands and it always makes me sad a little for those children who lack?stability?in their homes?...?but makes me so blessed to know we have?Tucker & Patrick as our sons.? I am glad you have found our...

Hi, I wish you and your family the very best. I don't know about kinship adoption except that finding a good local lawyer who does adoptions and a good social worker for your homestudy will be?a starting point for you. I'm in Kansas, but there are lots of boardies from all over so if you have specific questions, I'm sure someone can help. In the meantime - best wishes!

I hope no one minds if i jump in. My two girls are distant cousins of mine. I never met them until I heard they were in foster care. We received Permanent Custody of them when they were 8 months and 27 months old. They are now 3 and 2 years old. Their birth mom had not been in contact for over eight months. The birth father was ordered to pay child support but was ordered not to to have visits or contact with them. He has never paid child...

Praying that the best plan for the boys prevails! You are in a tough spot, I hope that everything works out. Fostering to adopt is full of ups and downs, so I hope that get your forever family in the not to distant future :) Happy Thanksgiving!

I can't STAND Hoda and Kathie Lee, but it was worth sucking it up to watch that clip and hear Nia's beautiful story.  Thanks for sharing!

I am so excited for you.  That is a big step.  I was very hesitant to tell some family members about our intentions to adopt outside of our race.  Everybody surprised me with how supportive they were.  I guess when race impacts people directly, sometimes their attitudes towards it changes.  Good Luck

Thanks for the update, although I certainly wish it was better news.  I know you were excited about this and being military adds an extra challenge, but maybe this will still be in your future.  Feel free to stick around our board and cheer others on and we're happy to support you as you continue your dr visits.

We (in CA) were asked if we wanted to negotiate a lower rate. I actually laughed out loud when asked this. I thought it was pretty silly as the amount was not a huge sum to start with. Never heard of negotiating a higher rate though.

Oh how very frustrating. I think you have a better attitude than I would with your situation. We got through the red tape stuff and currently have a placement we are hoping to adopt. There are happy stories out there, lots of them, but sometimes there are bumps in the road. It is really upsetting to know that you could be caring for a child and providing a stable, loving home right NOW if ...
