Kellee,? do you have to pay it all at once?? We paid half up front and then half when it was written.? ours was $4000 which included the post placement.? Colorado is HIGH.? We talked our SW into doing the update for $500! Money was a huge burdon for us during the process.? We struggled with almost every payment.? We thought a refi on our house would do it but the bank sad no.? We also qualified for zero of the free grants.? I did not want to...

How much is your homestudy if you don't mind me asking? Our first one was $400 and our renewal was $250... Breathe! The adoption process is filled with challenges but it will work out. If your homestudy is a LOT of money, you might consider going through a private social worker (which is what we did) or finding an agency that will accept a payment plan. Good luck -

Our HS agency let us pay in three installments ... can you spread out the payments like that to help buy time to secure funding?? So sorry you are having a tough day ... I pray it will work out.

I had to go back and find Jasmine's post to you and I gotta say too funny! Tarl basically said if we move to a bigger house we can have more.? The house we were looking at had 13 kids (bio, adopted and foster) grow up there with the family that is selling it.? It is just made for lots of kiddos (which is why I loved it so much) down to built in school book cubbies and little doors that lead to hiding spots in the walls.? *sigh* I...

Jorja, How I wish I could give you a great big hug right now!? You have a big heart and your desire is to play a huge roll in the lives of many children.? There is never anything wrong with a desire like that.? I wish I could have all of the answers for you.? I am sorry you are hurting and feel a void in your life.? I have heard of post-adoption blues and wonder if that is what you are going thru.? You lived your life in waiting for so long...

I've been thinking about this a lot but I can't really tell it to anyone else, they wouldn't understand, so I'm bringing it to you ladies. There is a girl who goes to my church, I've vented about her before. She is single, jobless, homeless (bounces from house to house) gets pregnant super easy, and even though she smokes and drinks through her pregnancies, she always has healthy babies, who are always dirty and...

When it is finished we have to pay 2,500 for the homestudy and the 3,000 for the birthmom expenses. New law in Ohio. I see that some of your homestudy costs were cheaper. This was the better of the two best agencies in town. Keep your head up and save every penny you can. If you need ideas how to save money let me know. I didn't have a "fundraiser" per say, but I have learned to stretch a penny! :) Have a great day and...

Jorja - hugs. I have no answers. I don't know any more about how things are "supposed" to play out than anyone else. I do feel sadly that you're feeling badly and struggling. Don't push yourself to get it all figured out immediately. Love on the boys, love on Dulcie, love on Clint, love on yourself and see what puzzle pieces come together. If I've learned anything these last four years it's ...

Hey Danielle I am so so so so sorry for your loss. What a horrible thing to do - and at Xmas time? I am so sorry! We had a BM & BGM do that same thing. They wanted us to buy the baby and that is exactly how they put it. It was a horrible horrible experience. We wanted so much to be parents to this little girl and the fact that they did thins to us almost broke us. I was so angry more ...

So sorry to hear this. I know it is hard to sit back and watch others whom you love make poor choices. But all you can do is to stay supportive and try to encourage THEM to make the right choices ... in the end they have to do it themselves.

That is very sad. I say this VERY carefully because I 100% know it is not true across the board, but decisions like that, just seem selfish to me. There is a world of difference between the would be birth mom that choses to parent because in her heart she knows it is not right for her and her child and throws herself into being the best she can be, and the almost birth mom that just cannot ...

Hello, Amelia!
Yes, you are in good company here on the adoption ivillage board! Yes, the homestudy process is difficult to rationalize. My biggest pet peeve were the questions about infertility and current children. Once I answered 5 questions in a row on infertility and not having current children, it was enough to put me in a cranky mood! I started getting a little sassy in our ...

Jenna, (((HUGS))) I think it is one thing to have a choice and decide not to do it and another thing to be told you cannot. With G-Anna being so small to makes it all the more important that she does get breastmilk and it is truely unfortuanate that she can't. I have a friend who fostered for many years. She ended up adopting 3 children. She told me she used to feed the babies thier ...

Kellee! I am coming un-glued to hear that!
I was in a similar situation before we adopted and I no longer speak to that person (long story ending with me screaming at her over the dinner table).
Ugh!!!!
No, you don't need to know about her pg or her complaining about it, no, you don't need to get over ANYTHING, you're in the middle of adopting!!! you will BE BLESSED WITH the ...
