This is an Adobe list of tested cards. http://go.adobe.com/kb/ts_kb405711_en-us There are newer ones which are compatible but I don't know of a list of them.

I know this is off topic a bit....... Well isn't that just dandy. They limit who can use the new technology by using CUDA that is only supported by Nvidia. By not waiting and using opencl they have locked out ATI and intel based GPUs. There are a whole lot of people use ATI and Intel based GPUs. While this new stuff is still in the pipeline demo vaporware stuff (until official word) I don't see many people willing to shelf their...

Try to open/extract the 7z file using 7Zip http://www.7-zip.org/   If it gives you some error message then the file probably got corrupted or didn't download correctly

Transparency Issues In CS4
Published (2009-11-27 13:48:00)
Hmm, ok, that isn't the video card.   That almost looks like you're trying to paste into another application (where transparency standards are mixed at best). Within Photoshop, we should never have that problem.

You probably have a bad monitor profile. Only fully color managed applications like Photoshop will make full use of the monitor profile, so don't be surprised if it looks "OK" elsewhere.   As a temporary fix you can set sRGB as default display profile in Windows, but the real solution is a hardware calibrator.   http://spyder.datacolor.com/product-mc.php...

Create a realistic photo

Not knowing your definition of "realistic photo" it is difficult to give you any specifics.   Photoshop has a large learing curve, so it will take some time to become acquainted with even the basic features.? Don't expect to jump from beginner to expert quickly. The urge is to jump in to do something great right now, but that will just lead to a great deal of frustration when things don't go smoothly.  ...

Relative to graphics cards, you might want to look at this ARTICLE . Now, it's about PrPro, the Video-editing program from Adobe, but it talks about some things coming down the pike with Adobe. You can probably read between the lines for what this might mean for PS. This is not what you asked for, but maybe it's food for thought - if one puts their crystal ball to use.   Good luck,   Hunt

RGB to CMYK viewing
Published (2009-11-28 09:17:00)
The most likely think to check is to see if your CMYK profile is now different than it has been. Hit Ctrl + Shift + K to see what you now have. More generally, I would look at any of the color settings in that dialog box and see if something has changed.? A related question is: Do the prints look different ?   I assume you convert to CMYK because you are using a commercial printer and that is what they request and that's just...

You need to familiarize yourself with how to create selections and how to store them as layer masks. It's one of the fundamental principles in PS. That's all there is to it. In essence, you select the parts you want to treat using e.g. the magic wand, then use these selections as masks on duplicates of the layer or as masks on adjustment layers, so they are locally constrained to specific regions. You can then further refine by...

Without getting into all the specifics of your post, it is a video card/driver problem.  I could be wrong (and if I am others will correct my response) but seems like I read that photoshop does not acknowledge 2 video cards.  Can you hook both monitors up to the same card?

I agree that it is well known that the installer is a big heap of you know what. However, there are work arounds to get it working. You posted some things you did but other critical steps you didn't. Of course you may have done this already but just incase..... Only install to C drive. Some people have tried to get fancy by installing CS4 on a different drive numbers with mixed results...

Not familiar with the options for HP Prescision Scan Pro.  There probably is some place where you set "send scan to" . I have an older Epson scanner and CS3 and click in PS File/Import/Epson Twain.  Do you have similar option?

Thanks for sharing this. Not sure whther it will come in that handy for existing "bad" photos, but I'm sure people will appreciate it's educational value and do better photos based on their experiences after that. If you feel up to it, you may want to add a golden spiral to it for those fisheye lens photographs, upward shots of towers, tunnels, stair floors and so on... Mylenium...

If any adobe product running in the background, when applying the updates, you need to shut them off. Hit CTRL, ALT, Delete to bring up task manager and in the processes ensure there are no adobe products running in the background. Abobe products will not update while they are still open or running.

Are you trying to run it from a network drive or the main C drive? Did you go through programs, uninstall a program to uninstall the software? I hope you deactivated the software first before you attampted to uninstall. Here is the link for the clean script for CS3 http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs3clean.html ...

If you are trying to add another picture as a layer have both pictures on open and  use the move tool to drag one into the other.  The cursor will change and then drop it to add picture as another layer.  Use Ctrl T to resize it. If you want to add just a portion of the picture and make a selection then do a copy Crtl C, and paste Crtl V.  A new layer will be added....
