CS3 Web Standard to CS4 Design...
Published (2009-11-13 17:51:00)
I don't think you can use the same package to upgrade both programs. Once, you have upgraded the package of CS 3, you no longer have the rights to it. But you may be able to use CS 4 Web to purchase CS 4 Design (but I don't know call customer service). It might be cheaper to purchase the Master Collection upgrade again call Customer Service, they always want to help someone that wants to buy an Adobe product

I would like to purchase the ATI Radeon HD 5870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express Video card. Years ago I searched Adobe.com for compatible video cards. There was a list of cards that were approved for Premiere. I can't find that list anymore. Does anyone know where it is or a similar site? Thank you Art

Thanks to Bob and everyone for your suggestions. I was finally able to get CS4 installed in WIndows 7, by taking the following steps: 1. Uninstall all virus, firewall programs, etc. 2. Run CS4 Clean Script - right click and run as administrator. 3. Run CS3 Clean Script - both level 1 & 2 - (even though I never had CS3 installed) Make sure you right click and run as administrator. 4. Move the following folders to the...

This is a user-to-user forum. Adobe rarely gets involved here. No one is going to support what a 3rd party app mover does to an installation of any Adobe product.

You can have the software activated only on two systems at one time and those systems cannot be used concurrently. Deactivate from one of the systems and then uninstall from that system that you aren't going to be using CS4 on anymore and then install on the new system. - Dov

CS4 *bug*: doesn't check...
Published (2009-11-11 04:01:00)
Sigh. This may be helpful to someone. I've not found a simple way to report this to Adobe yet. Perhaps someone there will see this. At least on XP... CS4's installer creates new folders owned by the "Administrators" group user. But it does not check to see if that group has permission to create files and folders. SO, if you're installing on a drive other than C:, there's a...

Just as a follow up to my own message. If I go and look for that file under that path, it seems to be there.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe Version Cue CS4\Client\4.0.0\VersionCue.dll
It has a date of 8/14/2008 7:58 a.m.
Also, I am using Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit.
thanks for any info

Given that they are selling the upgrade version for just a few dollars less, it looks like a typo. I sent a message to our internal piracy team to see if they know anything about these folks. But quite frankly, I seriously doubt that someone is going to legitimately sell you the full (not just an upgrade, or educational version, etc.) CS4 Master Collection well below their own cost from Adobe....

If you removed CS3 after installing CS4 you have a problem that is not restricted to file associations. You will need to re-install CS4.

CS 3 was not created for Windows 7. It appears the installer is refusing to allow you to install. There may not be anything you can do. However, if Adobe Tech support suggested a clean install of Windows 7, it may be worth a try otherwise you may be stuck with upgrading to CS4.

You can switch from CS4 PC to Mac for a nominal cost. Contact Customer Service. You need to fill out forms that attest to the distribution of the CS 4 Win disks.

I'm getting angry. I pay on a monthly basis so every hour I can't use my software I pay for it. How do I uninstall and reinstall my subscription if the disc may be faulty, more than one program never loaded. I'm starting to regret using this style of package. If I have to wait days that's time I'm paying for . Any-one experienced with what to do I would appreciate it. This is not about a ...

There is an upgrade path. Please check the Adobe store and make sure you purchase the upgrade from your product. There are different packages to be purchased that depend upon your upgrade path.

Win 7 Home Premium is fine. I suggest you consider the 64 bit version along with about 8 gigs of RAM. You should most definitely make sure the machine has video card. Steer very clear of integrated graphics. Bob

Thank you try67. I did have a virus. After cleaning up my system, I was able to get rid of iexplore.exe and the install Adobe CS4.
Thanks again,
I must note here that the Adobe Technical Support could not solve the problem.

If the Microsoft Installer Cleanup tool doesn't exist for Windows 7, you might be best off wiping the drive clean and starting again.

I've seen no issues whatsoever in Vista 64 nor in Win 7 with dual monitors. So, while I can't argue the quality of the support you received perhaps you can summarize the problem for us and perhaps someone here can help. Bob

CS 2 is not Vista Compatible. I would not expect it to run under Windows 7.

If you have deactivated everything that needs de-activating, you can use the Microsoft Installer Cleanup tool. It will remove all references in the registry to the apps you select. You can then delete the files that correspond to CS and CS2. There is a CS3 Cleanscript, it might remove parts left over from CS or CS2, but I wouldn't bet on it. http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs3clean....
