No no ... export and then import won't help. Re-importing photos is a surefire way to lose your edit history (and maybe other things as well). You say: "It's just that LR wants to import again images that are already there" ... I think the answer is simple ... don't let Lightroom do the import. Why don't you turn off Auto-Import? That seems to solve the problem.

Simply select them in LR, add the keyword. If the real problem is selecting them using the text file list, you can cut and paste the list into a smart collection's criterion.

The simplest and best way to use LR is the way it is designed. One catalog , images grouped in collections within the catalog and using keywords etc. for searching. You can forget all about the actual folders as they really don't matter..Just ensure you back up the actual image files in the same folder structure as you have in LR as this makes locating the back up copies (if your original hard disk blows up) a lot easier. Personally I...

Hey guys, my problem is solved !!! >Create new catalog >import from catalog. The catalog was built seamlessly and is perfectly fit. I was suggested this move from another place. Sometimes the simplest is just too simple to be seen! I should have thought of that, for this is what I do with Golive when a site file gets corrupt. Although I believe that the problem occured when my computer crashed last time,...

You could also just use keywords? Print1, Print2, Sold1, Sold2.? Subkeywords might be a good idea, though you might have uniqueness problems.

1. Work around I had a similar issue at a customer, although it was on a PC with XP. What we did to "work around" the issue was, render all the image in 1:1 before we went to the printing stage. 2. Memory If you want to check if the memory is your issue (LR on a 3 GB system with large jobs typcially eats up a lot of memory) use "Activity Monitor" from the Utilities folder in your...

pjohansen2 had this to say: Well that is strange... the user was an admin and everything. For whatever reason specifically applying permissions to the user worked. It's entirely possible to be an admin, and still not have permissions to specific directories. An admin is a user that can be removed from permissions of a directory, just like any other.

I think what you are seeing is that first LR shows you the JPG image put in the RAW file by your camera. Then LR renders its own version of the RAW data for you to edit. I don't know about the 7D but I have seen it with my Canon cameras too. One thing you can do to get better initial renderings of the RAW data in LR is to set the Camera Calibration profile to "Camera Standard". That ...

One way to narrow down the pool of images (unless all 25,000 were shot the same day) is to look in the EXIF section of the Metadata panel. Next to the field titled Date Time Original is a small right pointing arrow. (It's after the date and time shown in the field). Clicking this will filter down to only images taken on that date. It's not as granular as capture time but it will at least get...

Yes, backing up the catalogue (lrcat) is a MUST. Not so important is the previews file (lrdat) as LR will rebuilt this for you if it finds it missing. If the size of this file is out of all proportion to the size of the catalogue file it might be because you are maintaining 1:1 previews. Options for these you'll find in the Catalogue settings under File Handling. What's a parameters folder? Oh...

"I have tried to redirect the path to the specific folders, to no avail." You should be able to do this in the Folder Panel, right click on a folder and select Update Folder Location. Is that what you tried? If it is what you tried and it didn't work, did you get an error message?

RAM is what you need to get LR to run well. The more the better. 3GB's on 32 OS and 8 GB on 64 is the minimum for good performance. The speed of the processor is a lot less important as long as it will run the OS well. Does embedded display controlled Does this mean no graphics card? becuase this would certainly be a problem. You don't need anything fancy for LR, just a good card with ...

Soon. The camera mfg's you mention seem rather loathe to either adopt DNGs nor release much info to third party developers.

I have the same problem with a Cnaon 5D Mark II: Lichtroom 2.5 and Bridge both do not decode the lens data correctly in about 10% of the total photos. The focal length is identified correctly, but the lens type (e.g. Lens EF85mm f/1.2L II USM) is missing. The program " Digital Photo Professional" from Canon which came with the body displays all the data correctly, so they all are in the foto-...

Could this just be showing the clipped highlights? Go to Develop, show the Histogram, and see if a square shows up it upper right of the Histogram. If it does, click on it, and the lines will go away.

Close Lightroom then open the folder containing the folder and remove any lrcat.lock or lrcat-journal files. You could also try deleting the Lightroom preference file - see http://forums.adobe.com/thread/358041?tstart=0 for more information. BTW: upgrading to Lr 1.4.1 would be a wise move Mac http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp ?product=113&platform=Macintos ...

With many printers the trailing edge has a larger border than the leading edge and sides. This difference usually accounts for the image being off centre when all sides are set equal in Layout. Same problem occurs in Photoshop.
