If you switch to CMYK from Grayscale in PS, you should get a reading of 100% black. Moreover, the total ink coverage is 100, so you shouldn't have to worry. Just keep it in CMYK. If there is color in the image, you can even set Illustrator's appearance of black to rich black, so you'll be sure of getting total ink coverage in the blacks (if that's what you want.) If the whole thing is b/w, just print the one separation....

Hi David,   Is it possible that your ~/Library/Logs/Adobe folder is owned by root?? Maybe that is why the log files are not getting created.? Can you try launching the Terminal (it's in /Applications/Utilities) and type the following:   cd ~/Library/Logs ls -l   Also, are you running as an Admin or Standard user?? It should say in System Preferences under Accounts.   Thanks, -Kirsten

Dear Pawibbel,   I do hereby swear, on my mother's grave, that I have NEVER, EVER, EVER!!! used any type of modification file on any of my Adobe software, most especially Acrobat.   It has been my experience, since Acrobat first came out, that the installation of Acrobat is similar to stacking playing cards into a pyramid structure.   The entire application is so tenuously installed that if just one teeny, tiny...

Well, 298 is not unmanageable by any means, so we could rule out quantity. That's pretty much a basic set. Nowhere near what I use.   Font Doctor is very good at finding bad fonts too. I use the same set on both PC and Mac and FontDoctor found some on the Mac that were bad but they were OK on the PC, and vice-versa.     Which leaves me at a loss.....

Kirsten,   Thanks.? Can you provide the specific list of all of the files?? I know that I can search through all of the locations, but it seems like it would be fairly straightforward to have a tech note detailing all the steps someone needs to go through to manually remove Acrobat without impacting the other CS4 apps.? Personally, I would like to see the specific list of all of the files that should be (and need to be) removed prior...

The interleaving function you want is a feature common to page imposition plugins like Crackerjack or Imposer Pro.  My understanding is that Adobe is not interested in incorporating bookletizing features (jump in here, Dov, if I'm out of line) because they want to support third-party developers who flush out Acrobat with these additional functionalities.  So probably your best bet is to ...

AppCleaner, AppDelete, or AppZapper are very valuable tools. They will remove files that a typical uninstall won't. I'm glad to read that you found a solution to this.

I suspect you mean for someone else to use in Reader. Go to Advanced→Extend Features in Acrobat Reader... and save under a new name (so you can have a backup of the original). This will allow users to use the commenting and markup tools in Reader. Greg

Why not flatten the file you don't want people to be able to change and distribute that. Distribute a different version to those you want people to be able to change.

It's possible yes but not without quite a bit of expense. It requires a Digital Rights Management solution which would require a dedicated server, expensive softwatare...etc. Acrobat alone won't do it.

Ever since I first used CS2 back in 2005, I've had to force quit Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Acrobat, Illustrator, and InDesign from time to time on three different Macs. There's never been any rhyme or reason to it. Sometimes they quit right away and others I have to force quit them. I just take it as a minor inconvenience for being able to do everything I can with Adobe Creative Suite(s)....
