because its a kneejerk reactionary move to go from "please keep any food containing Xylitol from canines" to OMG!!! WE MUST BAN ALL COMPANIES USING XYLITOL BECAUSE IT KILLS DOGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" That's why, I suppose...

Size doesn't matter? [IMG] [/IMG] That's from the first study from the link. The progression rate % is the raw, unadjusted data. Looked at this way, most of the increase in risk from vegetable oil comes at the second quartile. Stephan at Whole Health Source gives the opinion that keeping omega 6's below six grams or so is protective of health. It'd certainly be easier to balance 6's and 3's at that level. I...

Nope, for ONE big reason. B-12. Sure, nowadays we can synthesis it, but until recently, B-12 was only available from animal sources. So no vegans. The fact that there are no traditional societies (by traditional I mean hundreds and hundreds of years) that are vegan. Not a one. As for vegetarians, I think it can only be done if the group can eat dairy. Similar reasons as for vegans. There are only so many eggs one can get from chickens to feed...

Also grapes, raisins, onions, macadamia nuts. I've always had to be very careful if I had any of those around the house, and yet I *still* had dogs that got into the chocolate, onions, raisins, etc. (none of them died from it). But xylitol...

I don't really see the problem. Xylitol is lethal to dogs, and I would not have any in the house if I had dogs. What is it about this that has you so angry?

I'd be all for suing to recoup all the monies we've been forced to pay to fund these ridiculous programs. Every time we drive past a Dairy Queen, either my husband or I quip about how our tax dollars have already bought us a soft-serve cone (through all those soy subsidies). But recoup damages for health problems caused by misrepresented data? There's a bit of due diligence that we, as a ...
